the new units have “less” backwards compatability… according to a few recent news articles.

36O yo!

i was just curious about this, my friend said blue ray is coming out with there disc that can hold on insane amount of memory, i know he said something over 20 gigs of information. does anyone know anything about this and if this was true wouldnt that mean they could have some insane games?

http://www.blu-ray.com/faq/

“The format offers more than five times the storage capacity of traditional DVDs and can hold up to 25GB on a single-layer disc and 50GB on a dual-layer disc”

But I have to mention again sony has had superior technology in the past ie: Beta max, memory stick, mini disk im sure theres more that i can’t recall…

Definitely go 360. PS3 is a nice machine, but if youve got a 7 year old a 360 will have many more games for him to enjoy, not to mention awesome arcade games on live that he could play.

true, but I imagine games will require more than a dual layer dvd in the coming years. However if it is for movies than I think Blu-Ray is overkill for 2 hours of footage and some extras.
