Public Poll: How hard do you work?

I just started thinking about this… some people on here do very well, other people dont…

how hard do you think you work… on a 1-10 scale

10 = 80 hour work weeks, even when you’re not working, you’re constantly on the phone, email, etc

5 = avg… 36-40 hours a week

1 = welfare with no aspirations to do anything

also, what do you do?!?!?

Financial planning (asset preservation, estate planning)

On a busy week, perhaps a seminar week, i work welllll over 60 hours…

On an average week, i work in the office 3 days a week from 8-3 and then conduct calls on my hour long commute home… the other 2 days are spent at home or at panera case planning.

I know I could put forth more effort, but I’m trying to focus on building up the business and still enjoying my life…

During the summer I work 3 jobs, about 60 hours a week is inspecting cars for valvoline, about 15-20 a week i wipe at delta sonic, and possibly another 10-15 i setup and tear down carnivals, the jobs arent hard, just time consuming, and all 3 pay well for not needing any degress etc (around 15 bux an hour)

During school I work about 35 hours a week sometimes more, mostly at valvoline and at times delta. Then of course the 20 hours studying/doing school related shit

I haven’t found an engineering position yet but have gone to several interviews throughout the last couple weeks so hopefully I can catch my big break =D

I am always constantly moving or doing something, I rarely take days off, literally like 4 a year, hoping all my hard work pays off, use most of the money I make to invest

I don’t work hard.

I work smart.

^ This.

I don’t consider lowes a career by any means, so I only accomplish what is needed to not get fired. Which because of my work ethic, still puts me above average for the rest of the employees of the store.

I DO consider my education a career though, or at the very least a stepping stone towards what I wish to achieve in life, so my effort is 98% in this.

Hrm, how to answer this.

When motivated, I work hard. 50 hrs isnt out of the question. More than willing to be on the phone/email after hours.

The past 6 months?

I haven’t done shit. No vendor or focus from my team, just busy work handed over. fuck that.

Start my new job on the 3rd. I’ll be back to a 7 for the summer (its too nice out to really care about work too much), and more of an 8-9 after that.

Ha, I have it pretty easy at my corporate job. Our schedule calls for M-Th 8-5, Fridays 8-1…

I usually get in at 8:30…check some emails, then go to the cafe where I meet my other slackers until about 9:30. Back the office, check in a bit…then head to the game room and play some serious Bubble hockey. Back to the office for a bit, then off to lunch for a 6-8 mile run followed with cafeteria lunch. The afternoon comes around and I’ll put in a few hours…but for the most part I have a very cush job.

In all seriousness…when I do work, I’m pretty fast and thorough. Being on projects with so many involved I basically have to hold up my end of the project to stay on track. Obv there are days that call for more than my 3 hours of dedication…but thankfully that doesn’t happen all that often:)

Like said above…work smarter, not harder. That’s what college taught me…

I am at work for 40hrs a week, buttttt the amount of work I do in that time is equivalent to a 2

i wouldnt say ive been missing it bob

I work a lot and I work fast and efficient. Put that together and I know that I could be more productive, but it is not all that worth it. I get my shit done and I get it done fast and accurate. That said we are running minus a few people currently and it is pretty hard to keep on top of the work load even putting in 60 hr weeks.

I’ve been here almost 4 years and have never worked over 40 hours. This place is big on leaving work at work.

^^ that sounds beautiful to me, I can’t wait to have a job where I can leave work there and relax at home and be financially secure while working a manageable schedule

It’s hit and miss. Sometimes I cruise along at 4 for weeks, then I’ll get a bunch of work to do and be at an 8 for a while. If I’m in the field it’s typically 12 mentally and physically challenging hours 6 days a week till the project’s done, anywhere from 2-6 weeks.

Feast or famine.

I work 8-5, Monday-Friday and my work is a fairly light load. Some occasions I’ve been so busy I barely have time to take a piss. I have to say it sure beats being unemployed though.

let me chime in that i dont really want to work at all. I’d much rather have been born into money.

I’ll give my part time job at guitar center a solid 2, maybe a 2.5 or 3 some days. At school I’ll go with a 7 or 8.

you work at guitar center…goddamnit gimme a discount

Right now my job is the few classes I’m taking to finish my degree, with surfing in between. I might as well not even vote lol.

I suppose I have to count the day I came in to the office at 7 last week, drove to Syracuse for a cash dispenser install, and didn’t get home until 7:30. That would be the one > 8 hour day I’ve had in 4 years.

I took the extra time the next day and left at noon though.

I think that’s just being an Engineer. I’m the same way. I’m either buried up to my eyeballs and running around busy as hell… or I’ve got almost nothing to do at all.

when im at work, ill slack.
when im working in the garage, ill muff
