i understand what your saying here…i guess it could do with the forum being more local, i dunno
Some interesting and decent thoughts going on here.
I think Karter is a decent guy. He deff goes in cycles and is usually aware of them as time goes on. Not sure why but whatever. Maybe this thread will help him be more aware. I do appreciate his general interest in the auto community.
Boardjnky, feel free to comment in my build thread. I will downgrade my flaming to possibly snide and rude. But honestly I will try to be more open to thoughts/ideas I do not quite understand and answer them better.
I do think we have some members that are quite petty and like to troubleshoot people and put them down sometimes. Not sure what they get out of it.
Some people only come out and post when they see an opening to be a douche
Yeah Karter is alright in person. Idk what’s going on with him on forums but he is a cool dude.
i wouldnt have even responded to this pm…
I will be!!! :snky:
thanks for the warning!!!
Josh didn’t address the fact that when I joined, original members purposely came into threads to start shit as a hazing “nyspeed use to be much worse than it is now”
And thus by defending myself then, pissed off a few of those said members, which lead to band wagon bullshit.
His response wasn’t Sheen, it was sad "if you don’t want other people to come start shit don’t post in offtopic, but if I purposely went into threads and posted half of what some of these people posted, I would have been gone.
Its fucking stupid. Maybe you should take the advice and improve on the site. Without the ubrf clique bullshit and a few other members who straggle because of that, this place would have died already.
Why? its not like there is a lack of car people in NY.
Instead of merging forums like pittspeed, who came on to post, noticed how bad everyone is, expecially in offtopic, started a fucking shit show and then quit the forum.
You can’t earn respect when idiots are allowed to purposely come into a thread and post retarded shit, that makes youtube comments look intelligent.
I’m tired of forum owners who have the same shitty attitude “if you don’t like it leave” Why not make it better for everyone? Getting rid of flaming is going to hurt the site in some way? Make a community that is more appealing to the entire state instead of just the people who quit another forum?

very few people on this site act how they act in person, on the site. I’ve gotten plenty of help from members on this site, and given help , sold a ton of stuff ect.
They will be the first people to be awesome in person, then talk shit about what someone says online.
Don’t point fingers like its just me, The difference is, If I don’t agree with someone or something, I’m going to object to it, and get a more detailed response to why that is there reason, and understand it better. If I still don’t agree, then I won’t agree, but I’m not gonna follow members around the forum and purposely start shit with them, even when provoked It will normally end in one thread.
I don’t carry a day to day nyspeed, everyday is a new start. Even people who are huge Db’s one day, start fresh everyday, its just a forum.
When I first joined this site, I hated people like newman, now. I think hes fucking awesome. I remember him bashing me hard at the beginning, but as time passed, even during his e30 build, he told me he’d take me for a ride, when I told him I’d love to check it out. Thats what this forum needs, that level of respect and support.
Why can’t we discuss anything thats not in gen auto like adults?
Karter,
What you fail to accept is that you seem to be the minority that is suffering from this so called clique and hazing. Most people get along here just fine. I think that you might need to understand that many of your posts provoke reaction that you seem to be displeased with. Bottom line I am not even sure what you want the admin/mods to do? Require people to be nicer to you when you say/do things that bait flaming? I think maybe you should just relax and not take some of the criticism from a FEW members so serious. As always though I encourage you to report any issues in the non off-topic threads.
An adult discussion outside of gen auto. Thats what I want. There are threads that deserve drama and threads that don’t.
Any thread that is successful anywhere else, should be successful here.
I don’t bait for a response when I post. I just post. (the occasional few are labled directly) The last time I started a thread for a response such as that was after someone came into a thread talking shit to me. Which was see4ways, and even that was a simple call out that turned into a shit show, but I expected that.
Alot of shit I say is taken out of context too. Which is why the people who have met me, don’t have an issue with me.
I respond when attacked, period.
If the attack never happened, the response never happened. Everyone is happier.
Ive been part of forums that are super strict, like putting symbols where curse words are and randomly deleting posts or banning for no real reason (I was once put on a 3 day ban for offering to mail something for FREE to someone for 4-wheeler mod, I couldn’t believe it). If nyspeed got strict like that I think a lot of people would find other forums to participate in, I know I probably would.
I used to be pretty heavily interested in Internet forums, and actually would have thought of such topics a few years ago. Honestly, as I get older I have no time to even think about the status of a virtual community that I belong to… I think even less about virtual cliques that exist in this virtual community. NYSPEED and UBRF have always been good ways to kill time at work, and shit around on the internet.
I’ve actually met a quite a few people on here, all have been very stand up guys. Some are now good friends.
I used to have a bunch of “toys” and somewhat cool cars, but I gave it all up, and bought a house. Priorities change. This forum traffic probably changes based on the season or weather pattern here in Buffalo. I still enjoy reading the house mod threads, and the super rich guy car builds. Its a good way to kill some time and relax.
I couldn’t even imagine being upset or whatever over what anyone posts up on the internet, or the status of an internet forum.
thats overkill. All I’m asking for is common courtesy and the flaming that ruins every single offtopic thread ever to be gone. every thread should read like a thread in general auto. Half of the bullshit that is said on here from one member to another, would get you thrown out of a bar, so think what it would do in any respectable public establishment.
Its just the internet :gotme:
Nyspeed, wnyfbody, ls1tech, honda tech etc etc etc is what you make of it. I have met a lot of good people over the years from here and elsewhere. Just keep things in perspective.
exactly what happens on nyspeed. hell it should be on the flyer.
offtopic thread about something important.
1 intelligent reponse
3 responses bashing / flaming the op about the thread or unrelated stuff.
5th person in, oh hey a thread. one good response, a bunch of flaming. Should I post a good response? No I’ll flame too.
People see other people flame and jump in on it. Thus ruining any threads that even had potential.
People shit up serious threads all the time. I’m pretty sure there was people shitting up my thread talking about macular degeneration (I’d have to go look)
Jeg had all kinds of medical issues, instead of helping him, or relating to him, or giving him any advice/support. People just followed him around bashing him because he smokes weed.
I don’t think i have ever posted in NYspeed off topic, at least not in a couple years. Same thing goes on on any forum, its not a phenomenon of nyspeed.
I’ve made 2 transactions with Karter…0 issues! I can’t say the same about some of the highly guarded members here.
He never flaked or played any games with me, was always on time, no misrepresentation etc…
Hell, he bought a ps3 off me several months ago and the laser just died on him. He didn’t shitstorm me for “selling him a broken ps3” or what not and I really respect that. I didn’t rip him off and he knows that, he seems rather reasonable to me.
I agree with the concept Karter speaks of but I don’t think you can police the internet realistically. This online community has it’s niche and quirks just like any other community does. Just like in high school there are cyber cliques, again I don’t think this can be policed really (maybe I’m wrong). I would just offer this Karter (and others willing to listen)…those that feel the need to boast on a cyber forum, or be an internet tough guy are taking advantage of relative anonymity. My overall experience on NYspeed has been quite positive. I troll the classified and buy/sell lots of stuff, I’m sure anyone I’ve dealt with would say I’m reliable and a man of my words. Anyone I haven’t dealt with talking shit means nothing to me really. I think the high percentage of online posters are vastly different in person than their online persona (myself included even). At the end of the day I guess who cares what someone you never met in person thinks/says, right?
^Good dude in my books
It’s one thing to just know a person “online”. Most of the cliques on here are in part because we know each other in person too.
Karter honestly just gets into squabbles with people and blows it way out of proportion. Once he gets into this mode as we have seen many, MANY times all we can do is wait it out. That is the bottom line. I get into it with people on here that I have beers with later that day sometimes. Not as big of a deal as he makes it seem.
wasn’t your fault, and it was a deal too good to pass up. sell me the other one loll

Why are you always the level headed one? anyone else just bitches and bitches more. You always explain things and are always level headed about it. I don’t even drink and I’ll buy you whatever odd beer you were talking about in your thread.
That’s cuz Drew is an Amish housewife.
