So I recently put an sr in my car. And i got some dohc lines for it, as my car was a sohc before all this.
The pwr steering pump on my sr, and i m assuming its a stock pump, has a larger banjo fitting then the lines i got for dohc s13’s, so my question is, are there different types of pumps for sr’s? With different size banjo fittings?
What kind of pump do i need to get my lines to work. The current pump uses an 2 inch long banjo fitting, and comparing it with my KA24E pump’s banjo fitting its slighly larger and double the length. This increase in thickness is whats not allowing it to go through the high pressure line and connect to the pwr steering pump.
Why exactly would anyone need to swap their power steering rack, And i do have the sr pump, my question has to do with the bonjo fitting on the actual pump, nothing to do with the power steering rack.
sr ps rack is rhd, you can combine your banjo fittings with the sr stuff and make it work. is one a banjo fitting and another a slip on fitting? bah i fail at explaining but certain year sr’s switched from banjo’s with copper washers for a newer style with rubber o rings.
try combining some stuff im sure you can get it to work
Basically my problem is the banjo fitting for this particular sr pump is way to wide to fit through the high pressure power steering line.
And since in all the sr write ups no one complains about sr pump not matching the cars dohc lines, i wondering if theres a second kind of sr pump that used a smaller banjo fitting.
The banjo bolt for the dual cam KA S13 should be the same size as the one for the SR S13. I couldn’t tell you about a Blacktop as I’ve had no experience.
Have you tried using the KA banjo bolt in the SR pump. The threads and seals should be the same, normally all that’s different is the hole/casing the fluid flows through on the bolt.
Ok, so i just checked it all out carefully again. And yea the non hicas sr pump the engine has now uses a liek 2 inch bonjo bolt that kind of pushes in and then screws in threw the high pressure line. The bonjo bolt off the kae pump i have is shorter and isn’t the same length or thickness it doesn’t screw into the pump, it just drops in.
The high pressure line i have is designed for this smaller banjo bolt, while the old one that came with the sr, thats leaking is designed for the older one.
