down south, it’s not uncommon to turn a few hundred thousand miles. replacing engines and transmissions isn’t a reason to throw away a car b/c it’s not rusted through. ppl who have never left this area think 6 figures is nearing the end of a cars serviceable life and into winter beater.
Most likely not.
Chances are, there’s a lower-mileage alternative out there.
And if you can’t afford something with less than 400K miles, then you’re doing it wrong.
What if it has 97k? Huh? HUH? :gay3:
Depends on the type of drive train and condition of the drive train.
Mileage, to me, just shows how much driving the car actually saw. Personally I would want an older car to have seen some miles. Most people see a 10+ year old car with 40K and think that it was hardly driven and is reliable…when in fact it was most likely driven hard for the first 3 years, broke, sat for 6 years, finally fixed it up so it could barely run, then sell it. By that time the thing has seen more damage from sitting for those 6 years rather than the 100K it should have seen over that time span.
That’s all I’ve driven is higher mileage cars and NONE of them have had any type of major failures.I’ve replaced 1 transmission in the last 8 years of me driving,a $400 repair.I have owned at least 15+ cars.
only as a project, not for a daily.
What is the car in question?
I actually prefer vehicles with really high miles. Highway miles are easy on a car and you can get them cheap because it scares people away.
no… 200,000 miles is one thing, but double that…meh i’ll pass
Yep, if it’s solid.
Come to think of it.
I have had 3 cars with 200+ and 2 were DD
but 389xxx.
I would be afraid unless I knew the car. well.
thats kinda my thinking as well…i mean i have an 04 with 170k on it that i dd, but ~400k miles is quite a bit more!
well, the reason i asked is because i just bought one
original motor, tranny and clutch! yes, og clutch… it lets out high but doesnt slip at all!
for $600 i couldnt pass it up… it runs and rolls awesome. came with a full set of brand new snows mounted on steelies as well. has a few minor issues but i have a parts car. im not completely happy with it bc its a dx (crank windows, no power locks, cruise, not even a goddamn cupholder or pass side rear view mirror WTF)
honda rot isnt too bad, underside is really clean
wasssaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
vtech?
waaaaaaaaaWAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
ugh, I hate the one side mirror.
i know! like listen lady who bought it new- you just bought a brand new car and cant pay the extra $300 or whatever it was for a sideview mirror and some cupholders?!?!? wtF!
but like i said, i have a parts car
should have known it was an accord.
for $600, it’s hard to go wrong if it’s running fine at the time of sale.
Mileage does not scare me. If it made it to 300K it was obviously pretty well taken care of. Cae by case…
Why in the hell did you by the MX-3 if you had this lined up???
ha, pure awesome
