Q: Would you purchase a car with 389,000 miles?

i didnt!! i went to reg it, ps i need to hunt down the original owner ie the guy who’s name is on the title to reg it FML

i went on craigslist the next day, it was posted at 830 that morning i called her at 10, bought it at 12 haha

Aww dude, that blows.

Hey I guess my buddy Jack knows you! Small world, one of his buddies is looking for something cheap, re sell it?

I love it- nice buy. Way to man up and not be a vag about miles.

nice buy. Ive seen numerous hondas and acuras with over 300k miles on original engine/tranny, they hold up well, esp 90-93 accord like yours. Im guessing yours is a 93?

was the previous owner in hamburg?

Edit: ive had 2 over 200k one with 613k on it, 2motors 2 tranny in 280z

its a 92

thats what im planning on doing, clean up the title, put it back together, sell that ish for more than $300

Meh, my '91 Accord had 203K miles, but the owner’s 2 teenagers owned it and learned to drive standard on it before me, one of them smashed up the driver side fender and door, I hammered on it as a winter beater, and it still was fine when I sold it. Original clutch, etc. If that thing lived through 3 high school kids, yours will be fine.

My friend bought a pretty decent eg sedan in high school for $100, had 298k. We passed it around as a winter car/DD for a couple years and it was over 300k when it got side swiped by a trail blazer. Still drove straight.

Miles don’t mean shit, just resale thats all.

bump

long story short, i told my brother if i saw his school schedule, i would give him this car. he showed me the print out, i gave him the title, and i treated myself to a newer accord.

my brother called me tonight, i was at the local bar with my gf, having some dinner, drinking 60 minute ipas and watching enroth fucking PWN. he met us after we ate, had a few drinks, and we went back home. CTM and i walked there (if you know where i live, this makes sense) but frank drove us home. as we sat in cackord III smoking, frank looked down and suddenly freaked out. “DUDE!!! IT HAPPENED!!!”

what happened?

the sweet machine as she sits today, with 400,000 miles on the clock, original motor / tranny. just put a bunch of duckets into it, exhaust and gas tank / sending unit but its worth it

lol. such a pile.

hahah glad to hear frankie is back on track

he’s doing super good dude! although his choice in women has really gone downhill hahah

hah ZING!

hell if the car is decent why not?

my subaru, so i’m told is over 200K

that’s impressive

truth is they don’t last forever though. Gotta love a Honda though.

i paid $11k for one… still loving it…

fresh motor and proper paint job and all new bits = who cares about the mileage

To little info to go off of.

Likely buying a '96 Subaru Outback with 180k on the clock to replace mine that was deemed totalled when someone pulled out in front of me last week. Car is the 2.2L and I am not overly worried. I have a benchmark to run off since my car was the 2.2L as well and those motors are tanks (extremely underpowered, but tanks nonetheless). Body looked super clean in pictures with none of the typical Roo Rot.

Going to run it into the ground. Even if it needs work from time to time, it’s still likely cheaper than a car payment!

There is that old dude with the 60’s volvo with 2.6 million miles. The car looks amazing and the driveline is original. Miles don’t matter, that guy’s car is in better shape than A LOT of cars out there with 100k/thread. People don’t care about their cars cause everyone thinks a certain mileage is high, for some people its 100k, others 150k, or 200k, or 300k. It’s all about how the car is treated, and if salt is present. So if you already have it in your head that you will be done with a car by a certain amount of miles you generally stop caring once you get close to that. This is usually what wears cars out. Or the car just plain sucks balls, maybe it was made in mexico after siesta. That does happen.

im curious as to what car that is, is it the car you came to the chestnut ridge bbq in?

yes.

unknown mileage on the car but up in that area… rumored to be anyways.
