Hello, I am buying a imported 180sx and I am wondering, who gets the original paper work proving it was legally imported? The current owner claims he needs it to show the government, and I am pretty sure the registered owner of the car is the one that is required to present this paper work to register and insure it.
please help me clear this up, i only have 2 days to make sure!!

Once it is registered (the original importer gives the importation paperwork to registries and they then allow you to register it assuming it passes OOP inspection, etc.) it is like any other vehicle on the roads currently.
If it was registered already, then you don’t need the paperwork. It is weird that the previous owner says he needs it since he should have tunred it over to the registry office :? .
