before anyone says anything, i know this is ghetto, so you don’t need to tell me. that put aside, i have a serious question.
my engine has always rocked side to side quite a bit, it caused a lot of hiccups during shifting / low rpm driving and made the shifter (along with whole engine) move about an inch to the right every time i pressed the accelerator which wasn’t that cool either.
so the other day i had some scrap metal sitting in my garage, and decided to do this:
the question is:
is it safe to run the 3rd bar from the strut tower to the IM? or am i risking cracking it? i wouldn’t brace JUST the IM cause that would surely make it crack, but i figured the other 2 bars are pretty solid so there isn’t too much stress on the IM, just a little reinforcement. can i safely keep it? or huck it.

Your bars will break before you crack the im. Other than that not a bad a job. I think you should get some new motor mounts and call it a day. Those Torque dampers add a lot of vibration to your car.
+1 on new mounts.
But wtf? torque dampers ADDING vibration to the car? that doesn’t make sense to me unless it’s super duper shit or a solid bar like OP posted where it’ll transfer vibrations to the chassis.
thanks for reply steve, i figured there wasn’t too much to worry about. and yes, when i first started the car everything vibrated like crazy, but like anything i’ve gotten used to it and barely notice it now.
other than shaking the whole car though, main differences are: throttle response is much better, shifting gears is way smoother, and i don’t get those hiccups at low rpm driving. pretty happy with it for the amount of time and money it took to make
planning on solid motor mounts someday, just not today
^^ are you planning on dailying the car with said solid motor mounts?
I’ve read off zilvia that solid mounts are excellent for pure track cars. But not weekend warriors/dailies because the vibrations from the daily grind are transferred from the chassis to the engine and bolts and stuff start coming loose. Response would be awesome and you’d be feeling great on a track though lol!
