Question: R32 GTR Wheels on S13 Tire Fitment

I’ve got a set of R32 GTR wheels that I want to use to put some daily driver tires on my S13. Just curious if anyone has any experience with tire fitment.

I don’t need anything aggressive, they’re 16x8 so I want to run an absolute minimum of 225. 245 would be nice on the rear if possible.

I have coilovers and very lightly rolled fenders in the rear of my coupe.

Thanks ya

John

245/45/r16 fits no problem with rolled fenders.

I’d personally recommend a 205/45/r16.

But you shouldn’t listen to me.

haha

no spacers, right?

i ask because on my v8 hatch which has a completely fucked up (and undriveable) alignment a 215 does not fit on the front, it touches the coilovers.

Ask KA24Power - andrew - he has these on his hatch. But I’m pretty sure mark knows how it is lol.

I had 245/45s on GTR wheels front and rear on my old car for a while, I don’t recall it rubbing on anything. This was 2 summers ago.

I can’t find a picture from when I had the 245s on the front, this one has 205s. 245s in the back though. Pretty sure I didn’t have any spacers.

I’ve got them all around on my hatch, 205/55/16 all around 'cause thats the size I get easiest. haha. Mild stretch, mine rub the coilover without a 5mm slip on up front - could be the s14 LCA’s though 'cause they never rubbed on brendy’s car.

I’ve got pics on my camera but we all know what they look like.

-edit: front and rear metal fenders are completely stock and I have no problems rubbing anywhere except fender liners.

Yea I spoke to Brian actually the other day about this he has those wheels on that exact car and he says nothing wider than a 205 fits on the front

Oh and to other people: Yea I know the 205’s fit but I’m not willing to put 205’s on an s13 sorry

225 is my minimum for the front, 245 is my minimum for the rear.

I think I’m going to need a ~12mm spacer for the front to make it work - can I use the oem studs safely with a 12mm spacer?

That’s weird since I had those exact wheels on that exact car with a 245 in the front… haha.

Common you must have had a spacer!! No?

In fact thinking more about it.

These are 16x8 +30

Mark has 16x8 +25 and the most he can do is 225. So that means a 215 should be OK on the R32 GTR wheels but definitely no bigger than that!

for what you’re looking for, i’d recommend going with a 225/50 front (do you need a pair? haha just kidding) and 245/45 rear. it seems like you may be leaning towards this though. i’ve had no issues at the rear but haven’t put my pair of gtr’s up front yet. for reference, i used to have another set of 16x8’s with a 245/45 at +18 i think, with a roll and that was cutting things tight for me (in terms of being able to squeeze ~2.5 deg camber).

i definitely wouldn’t recommend using oem studs with a 12mm spacer though…does it really seem like you need 12mm? iirc, 7mm might be the safe limit? don’t quote me on that though…

anyway sorry but can’t offer anything concrete for up front, never had it that close to the coilover. i think if it’s as tight as you’re saying right now (225 at +25 vs your 215 at +30), you should also consider what kind of sidewall you want to run with the 215 vs. a 225.

I’m just going on the fact that 205’s fit and 215’s dont. By that logic if I want a 225 I need +10mm of space and the extra 2mm was to play it safe. Tires flex under cornering, too. It’s not the end of the world if they rub the spring once in a while but might as well avoid it if I can.

Yeah true, makes sense. I don’t know how Brendan got 245 on the front before though haha. Well anyway, good luck with the front fitment.

Yea I have a feeling Brendan might be forgetting he had spacers or something? I dunno

Where in Oakville are you? (kimmerkaze)

My memory isn’t great so there may have been a spacer. If there was it wasn’t very large since the car had stock studs.

Edit:
I found this picture, it has the 245 yokohomas on it and it doesn’t look like there’s a spacer. I am a fat fire fitting magician.
