Quick Q. On High Compression

hey guys out of curiosity can u put ka24e pistons on a ka24de to get high compression and install a turbo kit on top of that and run 94 Octane gas from sunoco or will it be to high of compression to use gas in general?

hahaha i think you know tha answer noww…

On top of that nitrous and your good to go hommie.

well you could but then youd have to dump some serious fuel and be too rich and lose power or pull timing a seerious amount and lose power, just to make sure u dont knock and ping like a mofo, but on the bright side ur gonna spool quicker , but then youll still suck cuz u cant run alot of boost and youll be slow, but either way by asking a basic question like that shows that u must do alot more research before u even consider going turbo cuz its not as easy as it looks especially with a ka, your shit will blow up

theres some magical numbers out there for maximum compression in the cylinder per fuel quantity/octane and timing, adding boost will increase that compression so the answer is usually to use lower compression pistons

however there’s usually a safety margin which is how 9.5:1 to 10.5:1 engines can still run boost, just low boost like 4-6psi … the benefits are very quick spool and immediate power without such a power hump like on large turbos, but you sacrifice from your total achievable power

if you want good midrange and response then a high-comp turbo setup is good, for outright drag speed you want less compression and more boost
