quick question yes or no... help settle a bet. <3

<3 newman, for explaining with the words i couldn’t think of… now where’s geoff and paulo… ?

:word:

He didn’t necessarily prove your point there stud. What he says has arguments on both sides. Depending on where you hold the bar, it will and won’t work without moldings.

I never bothered to look closely at the design. Maybe I’ll try to get a schematic and draw an FBD.

Holy shit, this was serious? :spank:

The fact of the matter is that, yes you CAN use it without a doorframe but you will not get the full range of use. It is much more desirable to use it with a doorframe.

the one that i linked to, isn’t the exact one we were debating. the one we were talking about was the iron gym. and doesn’t have the extensions

The biggest reason I can see the need of the door molding is to hold it up once you start letting weight off. Also for the people that do chin ups too fast and have their weight come off the apparatus for a split second at the top of the chin up.

it MIGHT work with those little stub extensions, but I doubt it

true. blah. I did not think to hang there.

Slider doors are called pocket doors :stuck_out_tongue:

Will and Scott have Masters in common cents

mine is in common sense. btw i want to see video of geoff falling on his ass when it comes crashing down

Newman hit the nail on the head lol. Without moldings you could probably use the extender bars, especially if that’s some grippy rubber they use, but be ready for it to possibly slip, and forget about it if you use the bar underneath. With molding, or even a few screws or nails, it’s fine. I’m doing alot of fbd’s in school this semester. This would be a good one…

It’ll fall off as soon as you stop pulling down on it without the molding. The molding holds it in place until normal force applied to the vertical wall by your body weight increases friction to the point that that does the work while it’s supporting your fat ass.

No?

But the only way the normal is applied is if you hang on the extensions. No appreciable moment is generated from simply hanging on the bar.

Oh are not all the hand grips not coplaner with the wall? I didn’t look that closely.

some of the grips are right on the crossbar.

Hm. Sounds like that would rip your trim off the door.

You would need to mount a treadmill to the door frame.

LOL
Anybody wanna help me mount my stationary bike to the ceiling beam?
