Im helping a buddy install a BOV on his stock WRX. Should he dump 100% to the atmosphere or 50%. I’ve heard 2 different answers from WRX guys already and want some more opinions.
50%, or as little as you can to the atmosphere. Why does he need a BOV?

i know the kid, he doesnt really know what hes doing as far as modding goes. at least eric is helping him get his hands greasy
If thats his first mod i demand you set it on fire immetiately. Get some damn tires, a turbo back exhaust and some sort of engine management before letting him do a BOV.
only SRT-4s and Eclipses use those these days
yeah i know, he shouldnt be doing it, but thats what he wants, he already has the part and its being installed very soon(next few hours). im sure there will be more mods to come. i.e. exaust and other bolt-ons

The stock one is fine up to 19psi. If its just for the sound, then its a useless mod and the money is much better spent elsewhere.
I get it , kinda like watching a friend use heroin but since hes gonna do it anyway you are making sure he uses a clean needle.
One could make a better case for heroin use than for putting that BOV on a stock WRX. Does that answer the question? :biglaugh:
haha mike, u know this kid. he has a blue wrx(i know that doesnt really narrow it down) and had someone over at ur shop put some kind of bushing on his shifter. hes a tall red-head

oh and theyre also throwing on some sweet blue intercooler piping, it looks a lot bigger and better flowing then the stock stuff. i gave him a little lecture on how his turbo system works and stuff.
Ah ok I remember a college aged red head with a blue wrx that got a shifter and bushings, so that must be the guy. He seems like a cool guy, probably just got in with the “wrong crowd” lol.

i thought it was just a top mount… on stock wrx’s
It is a top mount but there are some silicone hoses that connect all the pretty pipes together.
