Either or. A 255lph pump should support that sort of wheel hp I think. Depends on the car and the tune though. An AWD car running 10.5:1 AFR is going to need a LOT more fuel to put 600 to the wheels than a FWD Honda running 12.5:1 AFR.
the AWD system will lose >20% so we’re looking at a bunch of HP at the crank… and the last thing I need is for this thing to start to run out of fuel at very high RPM …
The A1000 is probably more of man’s pump than the in tank unit is.
Apparently the complaints about the A1000 is it’s too loud inside the car- jeez what a bunch of wimps, you should sit inside a Dodge Dart with a 556 ci hemi roaring away through 2 1/4 primary tubes into 4" collectors…
Still I’m more than a little deaf and not much bothers me anymore, big pump and fuel cell it is, it looks like the turbos will do 475HP a piece and over 800 combined, dunno what that translates to in WHP and I vowed this was to remain a real street car, we shall see.
Hopefully tomorrow Don will post some pics of the new tires, I can’t wait to see those bad boys on the rims!
Well the parts are there in sunny West Seneca and I lit a BIG bonfire under Quaife USA’s sorry ass yesterday, hopefully my new ATB unit will be leaving their place in the next week or so??
Come one Don get those tires fitted, I can’t wait to see what the old heap looks like with those rims???
Well I wish that I had NOT made the call that I just did Quaife USA what a bunch of retards they are - buyer beware in big letters!
After having me UPS the oil pan and diff assembly to them three months ago and hearing dick from them since they now tell me that the units they have there are the wrong ones for my car and I’m S.O.L.
Strangely enough I just type in skyline of the Quaife UK site ( they are actually made there) and up pops at part #, it’s 8.12PM there at the moment so nothing until the morning. But you can bet your ass I will be informing them about how crap their US distributor is- grrr…
That sucks. I had a Quaife in my old SHO and it was a great product. Keep after them Andy.
I’m writting them a letter over there in the old country to explain to them what a bunch of idiots they have representing them here in the US.
They make a great product and they would have a ton of business with the Skyline guys…grr
Still all the other bits are now at Hybrid so we should have some updates shortly, I hate waiting around for things to happen, still tonight we should get the inner fenders cut out of the cuda to clear that Procharger.
My friend in NJ built an SBC 355 with a D1 that went 9.6’s on a 10x26 tire and that only dyno’d at 847HP and that was years ago, we shall see what a 358 NASCAR motor and a D3 can do soon enough??
I’ve got my buddy in England working on it and IF they make one for an R32 we’ll have it here soon enough, I know they did R34’s a while ago, there was a guy circuit racing one over there- until they banned the car becasue nothing else could keep up with it !
And come on Don post some pics of those nice new tires, it’s not as if you don’t have anything else to do eh:D
hum the Quaife diff deal is a fiasco- I can have 20 ( min’ order) of them at 1000 pounds Sterling each. apparently no-one has ever actually bought an R32 unit from them!!!
Grrr… so now I’m screwed on having some traction at the track, unless I want order one from Oz’ from a company called ATS.
Why is everything to do with these cars such a saga ?
Not feeling like an adventurous profiteer? You could have the market cornered on R32 Quaife units!
Brent if I even had 40 grand I wouldn’t be spending it on R32 diff’s -man this sucks, it does make me wonder how anyone is expected to go fast in one of these things using an open front diff’ a stock transfer case and stock transmission, it’s fine at a few hundred HP, but at the levels I want something’s going to snap, ho hee hum here we go again…
Last year we spent 6 weeks and a grand chasing after diff bearings for the new Nismo we put in the rear end.
At this rate I’ll convert the ffffing car to RWD and whack a live axle in the stupid thing- grrr…
With the power levels you’re looking at, do you think the fronts are going to need to do THAT much work? Unless you want to pull killer times on mediocre rubber…
Well it’s got the HKS torque split controller and a set of 10.5" wide sticky drag radials and having done quite a bit of drag racing I’d say that ‘open’ Nissan diff-( which is tiny), is simply going to fly apart on the first hard launch, then I’m back to having no car again for months.
I could always just run it in 2WD mode, but WTF do I have a 4WD car then…
Found a Cusco front LSD, Don’s sorting out all the bearing #‘s I need to get for the swap and we now have a set of lug nuts for the Gravity rims, Hopefully we can get some nice pics of the wheels on the car, it’s "golden week’ in Japan, gawd knows what that is? but all of the suppliers are closed over there, ho hum…
More to follow
see the car every day. makes me want one more and more
Well hopefully now Don’s found some suitable lug nuts he can fit the new rims and tires and snap some nice pictures and post them on here- eh boys, come on now I’m drooling !
The old rims are getting powder coated black and I’m putting the drag radials I have here and HOPEFULLY early next week the new windshield and the new front seats arrive, cor…
They are pretty those little R32’s, much the nicest looking of all the Skylines and way lighter than the later ones, dang useful trait for drag racing…
