Radar Detectors

Is there programing options on the V1? On my 8500 I set it up so the X-band is disabled. I still get a couple false alarms on the K-band and I did have to send it out one time (fell off my windshield :frowning: ) but other than that I had no issues! I just hardwired the 8500 next to my rear view mirror in the 240 and directly attached the mount to the ceiling.

Yes mine is set so it doesnā€™t go off on X band.

I want radar for my s2k, but the plug in for it is between the 2 seats :ponder

The 240ā€™s are the same, hardwire it, itā€™s easy.

yeah the funny part about that gps shit is that say you roll up to a spot like the merge of 9w and rt 32 by passā€¦ some cops likes to sit down around in that area and those redlights set off my 8500 every time without fail even when im going past it but on the thru way, thats why i got the 8500 and not the 9500 because cops will always be one cunt hair ahead of the consumers with newer technology to counter consumer electronics that help us prevent them from nailin us. the gps feature is nice but pretty useless in my opinion because many times ive run across a redlite or an area that sets off my radar and there is a cop very near to the light or the store front that has the alarm system etcā€¦they know where the spots are that trip off detectors and they will sit in those spots to nail people.

Hard wiring it is extremely easy, especially if you get a fuse box power plug in from an Auto store such as Advanced Auto.

Then you can put the remote display for the detector anywhere you desire, Iā€™m sure an S2k forum has some great write ups and setups. :thumb

no thatā€™s the point, you program that location in your gps and it will only silence it if itā€™s that same radar signature.

For example that light youā€™re talking about, if you program that as a friendly radar signal, and you roll up on it when a copā€™s there, it will still alert you of the new signal.

ohā€¦ :wtf well now see they didnt tell me that shit at best buy when i was trying to decide between the two escort models :idiotsā€¦ if they explained it that way i might have gotten the one with the gpsā€¦ fuck. :headbang lol

I honestly have to say that its basically V1/escort or dont bother. I know ur trying to keep to a decent budget, but seriously, dont. you dont want a cheapie. my dad has a regular cobra and he sees the cop before the thing beeps. only reason u want one is to get extreme range and high sensitivity. the regular ones beep atcha, but by then u already see the cop and if u see him, he sure can see you and has a number on the radar gun already. having a car like yours? theres really no other way other than to just let out a huge sigh, put down some bills on the counter and just get the v1/escort. i think if i bought it in the first place way back then, i wouldnt have spent close to that on other cheap ones and would have avoided most if not all my tickets and actually have a very good driving record as opposed to having a 2 page abstract :idiots valentines/escorts are REALLY worth it.

I have mine hardwired up near the rearview, it works better up there, and itā€™s out of your field of vision - Plus you can get an 8500 on Ebay from Escort refurbished for $150 now - Some sort of trade in special from everyone upgrading to the 9500.

very, VERY true. my escort 8500 has never let me down.

mine works amazing tooā€¦ just does this :gay selfcalibration shit sometimes, which gets annoying

Depends on the setting on the V1. Thereā€™s 3 or 4 different sensitivities.

iā€™m not reading this thread, but if you spend 150 on a new radar detector, you might as well shit on that 150 and flush it down the toilet.

but if you want to spend a bit more, and get a good used detector, iā€™ll sell you either my passport 8500 or valentine 1, i want them both gone so i can step up to the srx from escort, real baller radar detector.

elliot text me tomorrow, i want the V1.

The SRX :bowdown :bowdown

it makes anyother (including V1) look like poop.

for the 1500 (escort site) it better be ballin

Yeah remote mount units are wicked pricey, but the SRX has built in laser jammers which makes it so high priced.

Word, itā€™s bad ass :bowdown

jamming is VERY illegal
