Rate My Tire Wear

I’ve had a set of Hankook Ventus AS RH07 ( http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Hankook&tireModel=Ventus+AS+RH07&partnum=555VR9RH07XL&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes ) on my truck and I’ve managed to get 2 years / 45,000 miles out of them. (V-Rated, 420 tread wear.) I’ve only rotated the tires twice in that time.

My fronts have a bit of camber wear which is getting to the point that I’m looking to buy another set, but I really have no idea if the mileage I’ve squeezed out of them is good, bad or typical. I do a good amount of mixed city / highway driving. Anyone have any input?

:gotme:

I’ve been happy with the tires but I’m thinking of stepping up to something with a 600 tread rating because I’ve been driving more highway than city recently. (These tires specifically: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Bridgestone&tireModel=Dueler+H%2FL+Alenza&partnum=555VR9HLALNZXL&fromSurvey=true )

For a lack of rotation that isn’t horrible. This is a land rover correct?

Yep. The tires didn’t really wear uneven between front & back in any perceivable way for a long time so I didn’t rotate them earlier. I expected 2 years life based on my driving habits but I’m curious as to if I should have seen longer life from them.

There is a 65,000 mile warranty on them but I would have had to rotate them every 7,500 miles and show proof for each rotation.

Mine wear out before the blue stuff wears off the letters. No help here.

hankooks are all really hard tires that normally get choppy as all hell. if you got that much out of them with even wear id be extremely happy with it.

Propagation of tire wear.

I say this is a great opportunity to get the same set of tires again and this time follow the suggested rotation of 7,500 and see if it improves wear. I’m really really curious to see the results.

True, but they’ve gone up in price about 10% since my last purchase and I’ve seen much better reviews from the Bridgestones for only marginally more money than these.

If you want long lasting get mich ltx ms2 I get like 75-80k out of a set.

Edit no stupid 19" sizes lol

I don’t even know the last time I bought a set of brand new tires lol.

I have never put sold a set of tires on a land rover and had them last a long time. I was always told the weight of the vehicle contributed to this but I never researched on how heavy of vehicle they are. Ltxms2 is a really nice tire. It’s not cost effective at all though.

Bump. So I managed 45k on those Hankook Ventus AS RH07. Then I bought these:

Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza. And these lasted 110k.

I’m very happy with them and just replaced them with another set. Very little road noise, good cornering (for an SUV) and comfortable ride.

If you own an SUV I highly recommend them!

nice… how many miles do you have on that beast a this point?

206k or so and still going

THis

I went to a ride and drive in Atlanta last year. The Dueler h/L was one of the best SUV tires I have ever driven on.

206k and it has not gone up in flames or achieved maintenance costs that exceed its worth???

2013 was close, lol. 2014 was a much better year. But every time I’m stuck driving in a snow storm or bad weather I think to myself every penny is worth it.

I would contend that most people in a luxury SUV feel the same without fear of fires or british engineering

Its awesome that you’ve had it this long. Congrats.

his one is more BMW than it is range rover, so that helps a guess.
