RC car peeps

makes sure you replace the clutch pellets when replacing the spur gear!!!

I am soo getting interested in this hobby, I have been looking all over the internet for info related to this. I don’t know where to start.

I know I want a nitro car prolly a 1:10 scale, I don’t need anything ridiculous but I want a nice little car to mess with.

any suggestions

T-maxx = nitro truck, no “clutch pellets” to replace. Traxxas only used those on electric vehicles that did not have a clutch. A nitro car/truck, has a centrifugal style clutch, the spur gear only transfers power from the clutch bell to the transmission.:booty:

Yea, I can see me buying anothe pan car and heading back down to the raceway. I will try to make the trip to Latrobe next Friday and get the scoop from John…

you are wrong my friend. There are 6 red pellets that go in the t-maxx’s spur gear. It will work with out them but will fry the spur often. The spur gear on the t-maxx is designed to have an adjustable slipper, which takes place on those clutch pellets on the maxx. No adjustable slipper = blown out diff’s. Trust me on this one

i got this done last thursday. i went to a great hobby store in cranberry…and yes i got clutch pellets…awesome hobby store and great help

I guess you have never raced nitro, huh?

Anyone that has ever replaced a spur on a T-maxx, and driven it more than 2 minutes, has replaced it with a metal spur.

Here is the link to traxxas’ web page, show me the pegs in the spur.

now your wrong my friend… i run a metal spur gear tighten to the maxx so it wont slip. thats what clutch does and you dont need slipping in both places… i never blow out diffs!!! i run my maxx to the limit with all the metal upgrades and still no problems… i think tom vito has pics of me jumping an rc over my head while driving it at 35 mph.

um, the t-maxx and e-maxx come from the factory with red pellets in the spur gear. i own both.

As a matter of fact I do.

This first picture was at full speed, with two speed, and 2.5r with a LONG runway to the jump, I have picof the truck running up to the jump if you would like those also.

This second picture was at a much lower speed.

those were the best days!!! its time for me to get back into racing again. i still have a stampede and a t maxx.

LOL… I raced moster truck class at Mccullough’s last year and dominated the class with my Maxx. The bell clutch @ the crank is a centrifugal to allow the engine to idle. The REASON I didn’t replace my spur w/ metal is because there is a reason it is plastic. If you make that gear metal, you have to make every gear after that metal. That is supposed to be the weakest link because its a $3 part WITH PELLETS, the tranny gears and dif gears are far more expensive. I have robinson racing diffs that have held up to the abuse of the 3.39finally) that cost $90.

EDIT:
2 clutch systems
1.)Crank clutch - allows motor to idle
2.)Adjustable slipper clutch w/ Friction Pellets! - allows driver to make a slip in driveline so if you land WOT you don’t blow out gears. Its an awesome setup if you fools learned how to use it. Someguys run their slippers VERY loose so they don’t wheelie coming out of every turn and on tighter tracks

Maybe you ladies should learn to read your instruction manuals

Why do you think there is a spring on that nut? its so its ADJUSTABLE

Ad just all you want, I’m sure neonracer and myself would beat you on any track any day…

you hold your truck at wot in mid air??? ive had everything rc under the sun. everything from a big block t maxx to a race ready clod to touring cars. if associated or losi or traxxas makes it i had it. never ran a loose slipper. while your slipper is slipping my grippers are gripping. i used to race alittle myself.

1.) your truck in completely vertical b/c you don’t realize that hitting the brake would level it out.

2.)Neither of you would beat me on a track - I will honor that promise any day anytime.

3.)Most pros use a tool now to see exactly how much “slip” they are getting. Back yard bashing you don’t need ANY, racing some of the best run a loose slipper depending on their driving style.

4.) WOT in mid air is needed to bring up the nose in some cases - depending on the jump.

  1. If you are referring to the pictures, that is coming into a mid air 360.

  2. wanna try?

  3. Never claimed to be a pro, how about you?

  4. agreed, but usually that is the result of a piss poor jump in the first place.
