Red Light Photos in Buffalo

I have seen accidents because of these in DC…

Lots of people who text, drink coffee, or whatever else when driving end up rolling up on a yellow and locking up the brakes…causing general mayhem for everyone else

Obviously no one on this forum falls into those categorizes…but maybe you will be following to closely when someone else locks up the brakes…

I am usually extremely careful when I drive so this isn’t a concern for me…but I fear for my girlfriend…and other women drivers

One person can impact the whole flow of traffic quite significantly. If this can happen on a highway, http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn13402, why would anybody think people slamming on their brakes at yellow lights wont be a problem? Especially, “quick” yellows that are sure to come with this new action.

It is funny how the people who are so hardcore for these cameras do not live in the city and will not being dealing with the consequences they will present.

Ok I just found out that the city still has to vote on this so there is a small chance in hell that it will get turned down. The state gave us approval to allow us to vote on it and allow us to have it till 2014.

I still have some question tho. That summons with the picture that was posted doesn’t prove that you ran the red light. If you are over the line and in the intersection when the light is read, how is that a fine? If the light is red and you cross the line, I can see but that just doesnt seem to show that the person did run the light.

People who do live in the city will be faced with higher insurance tho over the next few years. There will be more accidents as this and cause rates to go up for anyone in the city limits.

Also, failure to obey a traffic control device is a point violation, I dont see how Byron Brown saying that the insurance companies will not issue points makes any sense. Cities don’t have a say as to what a violation is. Its up to the state to determine how the law of running a red light taken by a camera is diffent than running a red light taken by a cop. Its a fine on your record for running a red light and if you get enough of them, your rates will go up along with the amount of tickets issued which inturn increases the general area’s rates.

Lastly, I did find it funny that a city in Georgia or something extended the yellow light by 1 second and got rid of the cameras a year later cuz they could not afford them anymore.

ugh.
ITS NOT A MOVING VIOLATION. They can’t prove it was you driving the car, so they can’t give you points. It’s as simple as that. Insurance doesn’t give a shit if someone else got 200 red light tickets in your car, as long as they didnt hit anything

:picard:

If you aren’t out of the intersection when it turns red, you ran the red light. Yellow doesn’t mean floor it.

I thought you had to be over the entering white line before the light turns red? Not through the intersection before it turns red…

Ice?
Ice?
Ice?

My car can slow down fine, I’m not worried… sometimes the last 4-5mph to slow down takes a little bit on slick ice. But it stops. If I’m doing 20 down a street, the light turns yellow… I can’t mash the gas to speed up since the tires will spin… and if I hit the brakes, I could slide through the intersection. All depends on the distance of course…

A lot of times I will stop fine, but the car behind me won’t, or theyre not paying attention or didn’t think I would stop for the light, or just have a car that sucks at braking… They slam their brakes and can’t stop fast enough in time… So I let off my brake, and move forward a bit or pull away from where they are sliding in to, to prevent the accident. Sometimes I go across the line, yeah. Better than getting both our cars fucked up over something that can happen to anyone. I don’t want to say I was in an accident anytime I have to try for insurance or what not, go through teh hassle of not having a car, or putting it in a repair shop for a week or two… I know most of the time it requests only “at fault” accidents on insurance info, or even jobs that I apply to.

So I guess I’m just supposed to sit there, watching my rear view as a car is going to plow right in to my cars ass, making it undriveable perhaps… Making me have to file an insurance claim, AND getting a $50 ticket?

Ugh.

But anyway.
It has been stated enough about no points and insurance raises for the ticket, but I didn’t see this anywhere…
Does it go on your record?
Like, if a Judge/Officer pulls up your record, are they able to see the violation?

Oh and yeah, I thought your car (any part of it) had to be over the white line before the light turned red.
Not totally clear of the intersection
wtb internet looker upper.

So you’re saying that it doesn’t matter if the camera is there or not… you’re going to slide through the intersection? Are you not going to try to stop at a red light? If so, you are a fucking asshole. If you are going to try to stop, what difference does the camera make? The 2nd picture will be you, with the brake lights on, sideways in the intersection. No ticket. You didn’t run the light. You slid into an intersection.

Do you have to be a fucking weatherman to know if there is ice on the road or not? How often are you fucking retards sliding through intersections? THIS IS BUFFALO… EXPECT ICE. That is called driving. Don’t be a fucking woman and just steer your vehicle and hope to reach your destination… fucking drive.

As much as the first fag I quoted wants to think so, I’m not changing anything that people are saying.

The fact that there is snow or ice on the ground has nothing to do with the fact that you are running through a red light.

RUNNING RED LIGHTS IS ILLEGAL NO MATTER THAT THE CIRCUMSTANCE.

When one of you homos gets a fucking ticket for one of these I want to see your brake lights on and you sideways in the intersection. At that point I will say you’re a douchebag for running a red light. If you can’t fucking handle your vehicle you shouldn’t be driving.

I know that you can slide at 2mph. Does that change the fact that you’re not in control of your vehicle… does it change the fact that you didn’t stop for a red light? So… why wouldn’t you be ticketed for it? It is no ones fault but your own.

The camera isn’t issuing any tickets unless you run a red light… just be happy it isn’t a cop because he will write you a ticket for unsafe speed… which is a very serious moving violation. Would you rather have that?

Would you losers be making the same argument if they passed a law that said there will be a police officer at every intersection who hands out tickets for running red lights? How is that any different?

Again -
Green Light - Proceed with caution.
Yellow Light - Prepare to stop.
Red Light - Stop.

These are things you have to know before NYS will even issue you a license, unless you got this question wrong and still passed the test. Now is your chance to learn.

Here is the list of whiney bitch excuses I’m hearing -

I’ll get rear ended. - Stopping at red lights is no different now that it was before.
I’ll slide. - You’re going to slide whether or not there is a camera attached to that pole.
It is just for money. - So what? I’m not paying for it. Only those who run red lights will pay.

Seriously?

well since you keep arguing and bringing up invalid points i will keep going as well.

to answer your questions. yes i will slide through an intersection w/o my brakes on because i will further through it quicker, than i would be if i tried stopping for it. you can definitely tell if its too shitty out to be able to stop in time. so ticket me all you want.

and just to piss you off more because i know it will. in the summer when i have my other car out. i still will not hit the brakes quickly to stop on a yellow to avoid going through a red. just for someone to rear end me. fuck that. people are going to rear end the shit out of each other because people will hit the brakes sooner than normal in fear of getting a ticket.

so im not gonna be one of those people to ruin my car (which is irreplaceable) and someone elses and fuck someones day up because i was scared of getting $100 fine.

I’ll just assume you didn’t proof read that at all… and you’re drinking a lot.

How are you going to slide without your brakes on? Wouldn’t that be rolling? So you’re just going to blow through it like everyone else?

I don’t think you’re getting my point.

Don’t run red lights no matter the reason, don’t get a ticket.

Maintain control of your vehicle like you would have to without the camera there and there won’t be any problems.

awww we had to resort to name calling? Glad i could help with that cd key. Fucking whiny bitch.

WTF are you taking about? Did you quote the wrong post or something?
My last comment to you was general, I just quoted you so you knew what I was referring to.

Thats like you saying :

I took that as a general statement… unless you were name calling?

Un-bunch your panties and come back after you drink a warm cup of milk, k?

:grouphug:

Fuck you anyway for calling me a fucking whiny bitch. I’m clearly not the one whining… I can’t wait for you assholes to get tickets for blowing red lights. I sincerely look forward to the day.

Jack, I’ve always thought highly of you, buy the blinders you have on for this issue where you aren’t even listenin to other opinions or thoughts just makes me want to call you a moron.

for example: the fact that they are reducing the grace period just to grab more money. The fact that this is initiated and pushed as a money grab, not a safety effort. the fact that weather IS IN FACT an issue in buffalo in the winter, and ice CAN and DOES effect driving. Human cops can make the call on whether or not someone intentionally went through a light, or slid through a light, and I think most people in this city have an understanding that it CAN AND DOES HAPPEN.

Fuck, I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve slid through a light after hitting some ice.

It also doesnt help in this city with how the city plows (or rather, doesnt) some streets.

The fact that there is no judgment call available and this is pushed almost as a “tax” on drivers in the city makes me not happy about this. But tell you what, everyone that doesnt see this as a slippery slope and doesnt come into the city anyway, do us a favor and stay out. But stay out of issues in the city as well.

My experience with these red light cameras in DC was during nice weather…I can’t wait for shitty weather and the accidents people will get in trying to avoid getting a ticket…

Can you still sue for whip lash in NYS? 1-800-JOES-DAD?

All you need to look at is Jacks sig to figure out how much time he spends city driving  diesel lifted truck + bike with siqqq v8 + parked on lawn…I think he just enjoys arguing…

:picard:

Did anyone ever think about a situation where a cop witnesses you running a red light? (assuming perfectly normal weather conditions)

Would it be 2 tickets or what?

In snowy weather, the white lines may not be visible, so they may not be able to tell if you ran the red light or not.

in snowy weather i will just be sure to pack my plate with snow

GOD I wish this were true. We as Americans have relinquished almost ALL control or say in anything IMO. If for no other reason than how passive most Americans are. What we need is … a revolution!

LMAO!

This whole thing is silly. The more they regulate and try and control, the bigger the rebellion will eventually be. Just try and ticket me when I find a tank and get it on the road. LOL J/K
