God damn, I’m old compared to the youngins here
I was thinking the same thing.
i was walking to class in HS and a friend told me, i didnt believe him. then they had a tv on in my next class and we watched the towers fall. pretty crazy
The first plane hit right when I was starting HS gym class. I remember my one friend was late for it and he had a free period in the cafeteria with TV’s the one before and he was like “Some asshole crashed his plane into the WTC, we were watching it” as his excuse. Didnt think much more about it, figured it was a Cessna or something, for the 40 min of gym. The next class, AP Statistics, the TV was on when we walked in, and the notoriously bitchy teacher was like “We won’t be doing a lesson today, please just have a seat and watch”, and was noticably shaken. Both towers collapsed that period, and they announced that there was a rogue United flight somewhere over Pennsylvania. It was all the smart kids and we were tossing around all kinds of conspiracy theories about WTF was going on. The rest of the day was more of the same, every class had their TV’s on. The mass media teacher was bitching about Fox News because they went out of the way to interview the biggest assholes of all the witnesses. The government teacher actually taught a relevant lesson last period, about pearl harbor and the American response and what to expect in the next couple days. He hit the patriotism thing on the head.
Man most of you guys are old…I was in 8th grade Biology class, for whatever reason the Junior High I went to downplayed it to us. We were told a plane hit the tower but weren’t given the full extent. I didn’t find out all the details until I got home and my sister was not at work and was watching MTV but TRL wasn’t on, they were basically showing live raw footage of camera crews going around the city, their coverage was crazy. Seems like it just happened, can’t believe it was 9 years ago.
I was in my first day of SGT training in the army. Couldn’t call home for a week, and after seeing the towers fall, i knew my life was forever changed.
In that instant my training was called to use, and i spent my entire adult life to date fighting all over this planet the evil that did that discusting act, and those who want to do more.
From those that died in the buildings, to the heros who died in PA, to those who were killed flying into our militaries world headquarters, to my military brothers and sisters whom i have burried, you are not forgotten. God speed, see you on the back side.
Ok junior :lolno:
^^Don’t forget to take your Geritol today, looks like rain, don’t want those joints to start aching! :funny2:
Triflex ftmfw. I guess age and wisdom due go hand in hand
i was eating with a roommate on campus… i heard the news very faintly as they interupted a Celine Dion song… i stopped the converstaion and asked “did you hear what they just said on the radio?”
i had no TV so i went to the University Centre because i knew they had TV’s there and people were all crying and shit… i remember calling my mom and demanding she get out of bed to watch CNN…
Some images from the “Tribute in Light;”
Gizmodo, (as I see that’s where their from) had quite a few of these wallpapaers…very nice!
I was in Fluid Dynamics in the College of Business building at RIT. 2nd floor, had walked out to the atrium for mid-class break and all the TVs were on CNN, the 1st plane hit just before we went out for break. We went back into class for another 45 mins thinking it was a small cessna or something plane. After class we all stood around watching the TVs stunned.
Bump in advance of Sunday.
This is an incredible story about the F-16 pilots that were scrambled to take out flight 93… the F-16’s were UNARMED. It was a kamikaze mission.
If you have the time (about 40min) Here are the audio transmissions between ATC, the 4 Airlines, Pilots, Military, etc. Very bone chilling.
The events on 9/11 were tragic but it was the day that any American liberties went out the window and we will never have the freedoms we used to.
Let’s not turn this thread into a soap box.
Weird. I was a sophomore engineering student at UB when it happened. I had an engineering degree, an MBA, 7 years experience, my second house, and my daughter in my lap when we caught the guy who planned it.
Go Bush.
I was in 10th grade media class. we had tvs on in the back room and was watching it through the windows when the first plane hit. The school admins came in and started watching and about 15 minutes later they made the announcement to the school.
Eerily everytime I listen to this song it reminds me of 9-11 even though it was written long before. The band is America and the song is Sandman which makes it more eerie.
Ain’t it foggy outside
All the planes have been grounded
Ain’t the fire inside?
Let’s all go stand around it
Funny, I’ve been there
And you’ve been here
And we ain’t had no time to drink that beer
'Cause I understand you’ve been running from the man
That goes by the name of the Sandman
He flies the sky like an eagle in the eye
Of a hurricane that’s abandoned
Ain’t the years gone by fast
I suppose you have missed them
Oh, I almost forgot to ask
Did you hear of my enlistment?
Funny, I’ve been there
And you’ve been here
And we ain’t had no time to drink that beer
'Cause I understand you’ve been running from the man
That goes by the name of the Sandman
He flies the sky like an eagle in the eye
Of a hurricane that’s abandoned
I understand you’ve been running from the man
That goes by the name of the Sandman
He flies the sky like an eagle in the eye
Of a hurricane that’s abandoned
I understand you’ve been running from the man
That goes by the name of the Sandman
He flies the sky like an eagle in the eye
Of a hurricane that’s abandoned
I understand you’ve been running from the man
That goes by the name of the Sandman
He flies the sky like an eagle in the eye
Of a hurricane that’s abandoned
