Remote start while walking to car?

its just the same as someone getting into their car and starting it,

plus if you were to go in the car and say you forgot something, you could leave the car and not worry about someone getting into it and taking off since engaging break turns the car off

i usually like to let a car idle for a lil bit before i go driving off with it, so i figure why not get a headstart lol

not too mention its ALWAYS a good thing to let the engine run a few seconds before peeling out of your parking spot.

No remote start in the car, but when I was dd’ing the truck I’d do it for a couple reasons.

1. Let engine fire up and circulate oil before I took off.
2. Let the AC or at least vents crank some air in there since I would always crank the fan when I got out.

yeah see i understand letting the car get warm in the winter and letting it cool down in the summer. I even understand letting the engine warm up. For 10 seconds of time though it seems a little silly.

The safety issue would make sense if it wasnt 4PM in the middle of williamsville. :lol:

dont you know we work in a bad part of town… and i sure she was in the front row also… and fat… and old… (eveyone that works there) but there is like 4 cameras looking at the parkinglot

i use mine only in the winter, i really have no need for it other than that. being able to have it warm up with the heat blasting, melts most of the ice that has formed on the windows, saves so much time and hassle.

Yes and Yes- I have the 900FMS system for the GTI with turbo timer. (dual purpose) Make sure you take it to a reputable place to have it installed for your safety and others in terms of it being a manual.

hahaha, i do it just to see how far away i can be and through what it goes through. and yes on the 240 it goes through huge buildings and farther then quarter mile away i love it lol.

but yes it makes me feel special and mad cool too. i didnt buy it for the winters we get 3 ft of snow in a day lol

I was thinking of this thread when I started my car today. It takes about 6 seconds to purge the 2000 degree air that has built up in the vents. So yeah, I’d start mine via remote even if it was only going to be for 10 seconds.

Other then the posts regarding getting the hot air out of the vents, I don’t think anyone has convinced me that it’s really a worth while move for the 10 seconds before getting into the vehicle. The situation that I watched involved a 50 year old women starting her SUV just seconds before opening the door. I don’t believe that this would cause the temp to change THAT much that the action was needed. Its not a bad area and it was in the middle of the day so it wasn’t for safety. I don’t really think she knew very much about letting the car get warm before drag racing it on the street. still seems pointless. Oh well…carry on.
