Removed an above ground pool. Now what?

I removed my mothers pool last year, leaving the sand base and the stones that went along the walls of the pool.

Obviously I want to fix the ground and plant grass. How do I go about it?

Do I rototill the sand and stones together. Then add dirt?

Do i mix the stones, sand, and dirt together, then rototil?

I would remove as much stone as possible then have at it.

If you value your lawn mower I would remove most of the stone first

Grab most of the stone then Shopvac?

That would be a nightmare if you tilled the stone and sand into the dirt. You’ll never grow grass in soil with a bunch of sand mixed in and the rocks are just going to be a paint in the ass because they won’t just sink to the bottom when you till it. You’ll basically be trying to seed grass in sand and rocks. Best bet is to try and see if anyone wants the sand and rocks on craigslist for free.

I thought the same about removing the stones, but two people have told me to mix them in, one being my neighbor who did a similar job last year.

get rid of as many stones as possible. if you can try to get rid of some sand. rent a rototiller from home depot go to town on it… get SOD and call it a day. it sometimes takes a few years to try to grow the grass in the soil sand mix. the SOD works great… if done this at 2 houses alrdy and worked great everytime

yeah, for the small area you need - write the check for some sod and have someone else deal with it. then just fucking water it. you can do that while sitting in a chair and dranking brews.

Exactly, I’m totally over doing manual bullshit work like that. Unless it’s something I WANT to do, like planting flowers or something simple like that.
