Replacing resonator with straight pipe on stock exhaust

I have a '95 with a rattling resonator. What would happen if I got rid of the resonator and welded in a staight pipe.

I wouldn’t expect anything in the way of power, I’m just concerned about the sound.

Would it become alot louder? If so, louder in a good way?

I don’t have the funds for a cat-back set-up right now, but I really want this rattle gone asap.

If you’re sure it’s the resonator and not heat-shields or anything else…if i’m not mistaken the exhaust should sound around 30-40% louder or so upon eliminating the resonator.

DarkForce, technically that makes sense for 30% + to get louder, but I did this myself this on my o.e.m exhaust that came with the car because i blew a hole in it. I welded straight 2" pipe right in, it barely makes a difference in sound IMO. Power, nothing will change…

Just do it, Its not much different without it.
If i had to take a wild guess it’d be maybe 12-15% louder.

Cool, all I need to know. Thanks guys.
