I have heard through the grapevine that R&R in Olean is the place to go, does anyone have first hand experience with them? I am trying to decide if I want to have it built locally (I found a core for $350) or order one from someplace like Jakes or Monster. Any input is appreciated!
I’d probably talk to the local shop. The 4L80E is based off the Turbo400 so old school hot rod guys shouldn’t have a problem building it.
I know they have done two transmissions for Choda and I believe Joe FourEyes also choda has nothing but good things to say about them.
Yep. Kevin did my trans 3 years ago and its still holding up great. Sometimes his turn around is within days, other times he takes some time… but he knows his shit. He built my th400, and chodas 4l60 and c4…
Sounds good, i will give him a call
Had my trans all built at Competition Transmission on Erie in North Tonawanda - www.competitiontransmission.com
DIY.
It’s a weekend job, really.
Just make sure you get a decent shift kit and good parts. The 4L80e is about as easy as they come when building an auto.
I would also suggest Competition Transmission.
