Resonator question

I just finished building a whole new 3inch exhaust from the turbo elbow back, the piping is pretty straight all the way back . I used a APEXI N1 TIP/ muffler. the only thing i dont like is when im driving the exhaust is really loud lol. now i was wondering if i used a vibrant 3 inch resonator how much performance would i lose ,or what are the +'s and -'s of using a resonator to say a silencer?

resonators are supposed to eliminate the mid and low frequency drone you get from driving on the highway. its a straight through deal, so its really not going to rob any power. and the small ones are useless, get the longest one you can find.

Yeah i’ve got a 3" exhaust with 18 " resonator and while im cruising i’ve got a low humming sound but when i floor it it roars.

resonators shouldn’t effect HP, but it can take some experimenting to find one that gives the sound you like.
I recommend looking into a “twister” muffler. I used one on my last silvia combined with a 3" turbo back exhaust and a B*eer muffler and it sounded SWEET! great tone, little drone.
They were designed for racing use in australia and cancel out certain frequencies without robbing any power. plus their design is supposed to increase exhaust velocity which helps spool-up!!
