Brendan try Nordic. I have a buddy who had a horrible record and he has his car insured with them.
Find a broker that will deal with, “At risk drivers”.
Try converting the VIN to a Canadian one and then get yourself insured with Bel Air. There’s no point in keeping a JDM vin, it doesn’t make your car anymore JDM.
Yes, but that takes time, money and MTO hassle, needing the car on the road this week or early next week. Besides, I’m moving to BC in just over a month and insuring RHD cars there isn’t even a thing… I just need to have it insured for a month or so.
spending the $500 to convert the VIN would be stupid to save $200 on insurance for the duration of time I’m in Ontario.
If I was staying, I’d be doing that for sure. Leaving it has nothing to do with the car being JDM, that’s not what I care about.
Instead you spend the money to get the car appraised. It will cost less and you can probably get it done by next week. Then insure under appraisal value. easy as pie
i have been with nordic since i took my rhd silvia under my own name at 21 last yr with 2 accidents at the price of 340 kinda shitty but most places just didnt even bother. they asked for an appraisal and i just got a local dealership to do it with the green ministry appraisal sheets. they also asked for a pic wasnt oo much of a hassle. this was done using a broker in burlington. this yr, 22 , 2 speeding tickets to ad to the list and my price was the same with nordic again! bout 330ish i havent signed paapers cause im still waiting a bit. oh yea same as rent they want first and last payment. all the best!
For those with Nordic: I can’t see to find Nordic by themselves, just Bel Air Direct (underwriteen by nordic), who I’m already with and pretty much laughed at the idea.
Phone number for directly contacting Nordic? Or better yet, the number/extension for your insurance person directly?
Found out that accident isn’t actually on my record… so all I have is the minor speeding ticket from last year.
Anyway, the places I have called either won’t insure it, don’t call me back or require some lengthy application process that takes a month at least.
The car is safetied, getting the appraisal and ownership tomorrow, who can I call with that information and a speeding ticket on my record and get insurance within a few days without having to mail a stack of papers back and forth?
yo go through ING dont know if its been posted, didnt read through it all, but i got my 180 insured through them no problem. you just need an appraisal. good price too
I called easyway and they said they wouldn’t insure the car but referred me to a company called “Hub insurance”. I called them and after being on hold for 45 minutes I gave up. I might call them again tomorrow.
Originally when I thought that accident was on my record I asked for a quote with ING and they wouldn’t because of my record… I actually remembered them right after I bumped this thread. I’m going to call tomorrow as I have heard a lot of good things about them.
Nate, what broker did you call about the 180 and how long did it take to get the policy active?
I’m trying to get rhd insurance also but after having called jsut over 10 comanies including the one with which I’m presently insured;I’ve pretty much called it quits.
No tickets, 26yrs old,no accidents. - completely disappointed.
geez, just do what i told you. Appraisal then insurance under 19a policy. I even gave you the number for the appraiser and broker. I dont know why you didnt go this route. I had my car insured in a number of days.
I left her a message, someone else from that company called me back and seemed decent, but then stopped answering me despite me trying to contact him a couple times. I plan on trying him again tomorrow.
Between insurance and the ministry this is the hugest pain in the ass to get on the road.
