I don’t know why, but that made me LOL for a straight 3.8 seconds.
HELL NO!! fuck this auto industry… if North America cant get it right then why should I waste my cash on it.
RHD JDM FTW… and if you work in the industry WHOMP WHOMP!!
Thats not a great attitude to take if you want our country to stop sucking financially.
If half of canada discovered the benefits of imported cars over the ones produced domestically. The largest industry in this country would fail and so would its economy and everything else behind it.
you think are country is really hard up for money??? come on they turned the gardiner into a art show of lights they payed someone tons of money to put up lights under the gardiner im sure we could all think of better ways to spend the money in theres hard times right we arnt hurt for money its a act to get more money out of us so the rich stay rich and the poor stay poor
The auto industry wont fix North America’s huge financial issues. I was in class and at the time i had my Silvia. Classmate came up to me and said that cars like mine is why his dad is losing their house. The workers in North America get paid a SHIT load and throw it away living the big life and forget about saving their cash. The man lived in a 1 million dollar plus house with 3 brand new cars that were being taken away due to the fact he lost his shift and couldnt pay. Are you serious that they couldnt save a dime!
Just a lil story about our North American greed, and when shit hits the fan they want to picket and make everyone else suffer for their short comings and lack of financial planning.
Auto makers employees make on average $300 per day + a HEAVY bonus even if company in the red!!
Over seas employees make on average $ 100-150 per day + profit sharing if there is a profit!!
Doing the same job! CAW and all the unions have to take a pay cut or just stop crying. Sure its seems a bit cold but come on, why you think over seas makes more profits. I worked in the auto industry from 15 to 24 years of age… from the lot to the desk in every department… doing research and all from our land to theirs… Companies have nothing great and new to offer us here jsut remakes of old classics. Asian and European companies always offer something new and wow around the world… for example the Genesis, GTR, Forte, EVO, turboed Rally Art, and R8… just to show a few. Domestic do have some great cars but for the money its not worth buying… Plus warrenty is playing a BIG factor. Ford is trying a new Ecoboost directive which is working for them in a excellent way and i am happy for that, others need to follow!
Maybe I am being a bit harsh and I am sorry people losing their jobs cause that is never good! I wish people the best all the time. But North American market is not bringing the noise like they beed too!
This is my OPINION and from my personal following of the industry, so nobody take offence, just using my opinion to constructively debate yours view. Feel free to hit me back with your opinion, its all good!!
Thanks
^I agree… I would prolly never buy a RHD car but I sure as hell aint gonna buy an american car ever in my life…such garbage, and about the comment with the gardiner that is sooo true if they were in a money crisis situation they wouldn’t be turning the gardiner into a light show…
dude not all american cars are shit… alot of them have turned the way they manufacture there cars around and quality is way better than it was years ago. and dude if your telling me that the zr1 is garbage then wow… seems like your a jdm fan boy imo
Uhm a ZR1 is a bit out of budget for everyone on this forum. its an amazing car but its really irrelevant.
There is a reason were all here. We have chosen a good, cheap chassis to build on. I cant really think of a comparable american chassis that offers the same potential for the same cost.
Either way i have get to see an american compact car from the late 80’s early 90’s have a resale value that matches that of the japanese cars. ie honda toyota nissan.
not a jdm fanboy but of the vehicles i can afford, the japanese cars offer more.
As far as an american chassis that has the same potential for the same amount of money - for a clean S13 you’ll have to pay just a little less than you can get an early 4th gen F-body for, and don’t try and tell me the S13 has more potential. Built in Canadiaville too.
If you look at the build quality of the older 5th and 6th gen civic compared to let’s say a to Chevy cavalier of the same production time, you can clearly see why they have this problem now!
Junior, i think you’re focusing too much on just CAW union and on the wrong kind of worker. Canada’s auto industry is strong because we have a manufacturing sector as well as a natural resources sector as well. Hamilton Steel, Windsor cars.
The workers you were talking about living in a 1 million dollar house with 3 brand new cars is at one end of the spectrum. One of my friend’s mom works for toyota down in guelph, she lost her job which is their family’s only income and they didnt have 3 cars to sell or a 1million dollar house to get rid of.
If you want to start examining wages and benefits you have to also examine standard of living for each country. You have to look at the taxes they pay, the value of the dollar, inflation, returns, there’s just so much more to it than saying, ‘canadian workers get paid more’. and keep in mind, huge bonus’ as well as huge expenses are just ways to aleviate your corporation’s taxes.
This is also an example of how its not only the “shitty american” car makers that are being affected, god knows car makers are no longer identified with a nation as private investors around the world own different shares of different companies and makers on one continent are buying out other companies. Not only american cars are made in north america. Honda’s, toyota’s, nissans all have production facilities in Canada, they’re also part of the automotive industry.
Not going to lie though, between owning a 4 door skyline with the same mileage as a subaru for the same price i’d go with the skyline.
Just trying to provide some perspective. NOt everyone can think like you and i and want rhd cars as a cheaper, more reliable alternative, if that were true well, our country would have bveen down the shitter.
