so i was out just for a little while on the bike last night and was on my way home on kinns rd in clifton park. im doing about 45-50 mph and i see a car come to a “T” intersection at bernini drive. i slow down as usual just as a precaution, see the car inch forward a little more just over the white line , so i start using my rear brake… the bike starts to fishtail a little bit, so i let off the brake, and the bike straightened back out… at this point in time the car continues to pull out into the lane and is nearly at the yellow lines. theres a car comming the other direction so i cant swerve… i hit the rear brake and grab the front brake and the bike proceeds to flip, ejecting me off the front. i landed helmet first and the bike lands on top of me sliding to a stop just before the car. i jump up knowing im in the road trying to make sure i still have all my parts, then try and drag the smashed up bike out of the road. at this point in time a pickup truck (ford ranger or something like it) is comming down the road and im waving trying to tell him to stop… he doesnt see me and i drop the bike and jump out of the way onto the lawn next to the road just in time to see him hit the bike at about 50 mph and knock it 300 feet further down the road. passers by and such stop and called 911… 6 county sherriffs show up and an ambulance in record time. im checked out in the ambulance and my right wrist is VERY tender and i have 5 small patches of road rash on my lower body and ass. the old lady driving the car tells me that she thought i was a street lamp and thats why she pulled out. she is cited for failure to yield the right of way, pulling into an occupied roadway. i come home and check out my gear and the helmet is scrathed heavily down the left side and cracked there with rubber marks from where the bike went across my head on the right side of it, the carbon fiber on the knuckles of the gloves is severely scratched and dented in on both , and there are tears by the neck on the back of the jacket, and on both sleves near the wrist. my ex gf and mother take me to the ER to get my wrist checked out and it turns out ive snapped the scaphoid bone in my right wrist clean through with over a mm of separation. this is going to require surgery to insert a couple screws and maybe a pin or 2 to pull the bone back together. after surgery im being told ill be in a cast for approx 4-5 weeks followed by intense physical therapy to regain use of my thumb and wrist. my gear saved my life guys so if u ever consider not wearing it think twice. ride safe.
Sucks to hear. Good luck with the recovery. Pics or ban BTW.
Should’ve eased on the front brake more, not just squeeze it. I learned that trying to do stoppies on my dirt bike lol.
Since your rear tire locked up, should’ve more or less eased onto that as well, or give it a little pump action.
Of course hindsight is 20/20 so you prolly realize that now.
I think I jinxed you dude. We can hand out and be crips together.
glad your still alive.
if i only eased on the brake i think i may have bit the front end of the buick. it was lock em n pray or kiss hood… instead i kissed asphalt. code blue… its ok man we can be bionic brothers … fuckin titanium pins n screws in the wrist FTMFL
Damn dude that’s crazy! Glad to see your ok minus the broken wrist. Where’s the pics of the carnaged bike?
Did you have full coverage? I’d like to see pics of the bike as well, that sounds horrid.
Glad you’re alright, and hate to say it, but it could be worse.
You ever take MSF?
Btw if anybody rides a CBR right now, I’d put it away, sounds like october is not a CBR month.
glad things are not worse!
you can walk around for code…and he can feed you!
Match made in heaven! lol
Any updates? Where is the bike now?
i demand pics of the bike carnage
ban time! lol…just playing
good to see your alive…i went down around the same speed and walked away with just road rash…but i deff wanna see the pics here are some pics of mine after the wreck
dude, fuck the bike, its metal and plastic. u can fix that. as long as you walked away with no permanent injuries or disfigurement, its all good. but that remark she made? WTF? who saw a street lamp move down the road lately? closest thing to that i saw is that one light thats in the middle of a sidwalk right by times union center(pepsi arena). seriously, wtf? did you smack her around a bit before the cops came?
Do you have anypics of the bike yet???
pics of bike are now posted in if u own a honda thread in general automotive section… forgot about this thread honestly… and for an update… i had surgery the day before halloween… 10/30… the accident occurred 10/17… it is now 3/13… im STILL in a cast on my right wrist/arm… the bone is still not healed all the way. they removed the pins but the 2 screws are still in my wrist… they want to go back in, remove the screws and perform a bone graph from the radius and ulna bones further up my arm and re-cast me for another 6-10 weeks from now. this sucks more cock than my ex gf’s.
Glad to hear you’re getting better, but yeah bone healing sucks.
It seems like my collar bone will never grow back.
I’m amazed to hear you’re still in a cast :wow
i feel like jumping off my roof just so i can be a gimp cripple and fit in. :crackup
he’s still in a cast because his bones didn’t heal enough to satisfy the dr. My dr gave me a date, and told me that by that date, if the gap in my tibia (shin bone) wasn’t showing any growth, that we would have to consider a bone graft. It sucks that you have to go through with that. A few years back I broke my radius and ulna in 8 places total, was in a cast from my knuckles to my shoulders for 13 weeks. my right arm too (made shifting fun)
just think, it gives you something to reflect upon… and chicks dig scars…
unless they look like a vagina on your leg
surgery is tomorrow morning @ 9 am removing 2 screws in my wrist, grafting bone from radius/ulna to fill “holes” left from aforementioned screws. 72 hours of litocaine, morphene, demerol and hydrocodone induced coma… here i come!
HAHA 4-5 WEEKS MY ASS… try 5.5 months of being in a cast with a 2nd surgery to follow… jeeeeezus
