Road Bike Riders...

Anybody here ride a road bike (bicycle).

I just got one last week and am really liking it.

If you do - what is an average ride for you? Distance and time it takes?

you want to start off with long slow rides. If you have never ridden for any distance at all, start with about 35kms. That should take you no more than two hours (absolute max, and i mean it) and no less than 1h30mins. That keeps your speed down and gets you into the ride at a good pace.

Take a day off in between every ride at the start. Slowly increase the kilometers up to about 80kms. Then you start working on speed. Try and decrease your time, again slowly. I like to mix it all up when my fitness is good enough.

If you can go riding with a group of people in your ability, that’s always a good idea too. Try and have several different routes. A flat ride, a hilly climbing route, a combo of both. Riding flats only wont help you all that much except in building endurance. Having hills helps with cadence control, and works different leg muscles.

There ya go.
