I just picked up my 13bt last week and I’ll be starting on swapping it into my RX-7 in the next month. The problem is that once I unpacked it, it came to my attention that I had no idea what I was doing. I ended up staring at the cluster of vacuum, coolant, fuel, and oil lines running every which way under the intake manifold for a good hour, then grabbed the Haynes Manual and started dissecting it in my head.
Put simply, I could use the help of any rotorites in the area, or even any shops that would even TOUCH my FC, let alone tune it when it’s running. I have looked around RX7club.com for general info but there’s only so much you can learn from reading, and I prefer first-hand experience. I have a pretty good idea of what I’m going to be running with and without with this car, but I’m still learning my way around a ratchet.
So, if anyone’s willing to lend me a hand, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks.
I should be doing this right now, but im slacking big time. where did u pick up the motor from if you dont mind me asking? how much did you pay? I have an 86 n/a rx7 that im pretty the motor needs to be replaced. I will find out when i try to fire it up in the spring.
Well, since I’m moving between series, I’ll be running a Haltech E8, 720cc or larger secondary injectors, and a 3" exhaust for starters. My biggest problems is what sensors I should be replacing to make the most out of the E8. It’ll only be running about 10-12psi since I’m sticking with the stock turbocharger for now. I’ll be attempting to remove the emissions garbage and cap off any open lines, as well as removing the A/C pump.
Also, PMed.
Check my sig for more details on the swap.
I bought it from an eBay Motors dealer who deals strictly in JDM swaps and parts. The dealer’s name is Jhot Imports ( jhot-imports on eBay ). He’s very prompt and speedy with getting my swap to me. I payed about $1375 for the swap and about $230 shipping via FedEx Freight to my house. When I opened it up I immediately yanked the spark plugs and was pleasantly surprised. It looked like the motor had been running up to the point where it was pulled. Last time I checked he had a 13b-REW swap for sale with lots of extras. A word of advice: Stick with an S4 motor unless you’re willing to drop $1.2k on a EMS.
Haha Looks like you got quite the project on your hands Shaz.
I’ve never swapped a motor before, I have no experience with Rotards or nothing but I have no problem giving you a hand or whatever since we go way back.
