My six months of cheap roadrunner are running out this month. Is it worth it to upgrade to the Turbo for $10/month more?

I torrent a fair bit, and surf/email near constantly when I’m home. Specifically for the TW folks I have a few questions

-How long does the upgrade take, is it just the flip of a switch or do I need a new modem and a service call?

-Will the upgrade flag me for any kind of extra scrutiny? It seems like the only people who need this type of thing are downloaders of the pirate variety yarrrr.

Fios 10/2 @ $42/mo > TW 4/.4 @ $39/mo

TWC 10/1 for 23/mo for first year.

Turbo is worth it. It is a matter of 10 seconds for it to switch (however long it takes for the modem to reboot)
Modem only if you have a POS old modem.
No upgrade flag or anything like that.

I dont know where you got those numbers from, but they’re not correct. Since I’ll be moving in 6mos, there’s no way I’m signing a 1 or 2 year contract.

99 term fee (1yr contract).

So, 6 months of service under the contract terms: $192
versus 6 months of TW 4/.5 @ $234.

After the $99 term fee, you end up spending $57 more to have FIOS service at a rated 10 / 2 when compared to TW service rated @ 4 / .5

Normal should be 10mbps/1mbps now (if nots 4mbps/384kbps) and turbo 15mbps/2mbps

Thats exactly what I get (+/- 2%) from the 29.99/mo TW service. All new Cat6, new PCs, gigabit, etc.

That being said, FIOS install date pending :tup:

hmmm, maybe their website is incorrect, My promotion was supposed to me $29/month, for 6 months then $45 forever… But is that not what ryanmcell is saying.

I was on the 29.99 for 12 mos promo that was running a while back, and those are the speeds I get for w/e the advertised rating it (iirc 5 / 1). After the promo is up it was supposed to go to 39.99/mo.

4mbps/384kbps was what Nikuk has. So your speeds are spot on.

We recently started upgrading areas to 10/1 for speeds however Amherst is not one yet.
