I dunno if this is the right section so please move if not.
I have an s13 and I would love to get the rust in the engine bay fixed. It is that same spot as everyone else at the “seems” on top of the strut mounts byt the fender where what looks like a rubber stopper for the hood used to be.
Has anyone had their’s repaired?
If so how much and where?
Or can anyone here do it?
Let me know if i am not making any sense and i will find a pic to describe what i mean.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
I’m in the process of doing this afternoon actually.
I just took my die grinder, and cut out the infected area. now instead of a small lumpy rust hole, it’s a much bigger cancer free rectangle hole. to which I have matched the guage of metal and cut out bits to but-weld intoplace. it should turn out nicely and provide perhaps even a little more strength than the original as welds tend to be stronger than plain ol’ sheet metal. then I’m sealing the whole seam over with seam putty a great deal can be found at parts source in a red caulk tube for about 8.99 well with it I think. prevents future rust and waterproofs the whole thing.
yup… I would have done it yesterday but I ran out of wire… stupid welder lol
laters
unfortunately i do not have any welding skills, would love to learn though.
I would love to see some pics of your work in progress if you could.
Thanks
knowing how to weld should be a prerequisite of owning a 240sx
i would also like to see pics
That wasn’t in the manual
