s10 guys ... wierd engine noise

I posted this to an S10 forum as well, but figured i would try it here too:

ok, So i’m repairing a totalled 2003 ZR2 pickup, but i have a big problem. The battery is getting drained all the time and is now shot. When it is charged you can hear a pretty loud buzzing/wooshing sound coming from the engine bay. Took a better listen tonight and found that it is this small box that is behind the intake. Its got a white tag locking it shut, and when you open it, there are 2 blue rectangles with like 12 wires inside. here are some pictures of it. Anyone know what it is, and what could be causing it to make these noises and killing my battery??

Thanks…

ummmm…

wtf?

your truck come with a factory alarm?

i honestly 100% have no idea what that is

That would be the fuel injector “spider”, wiring harness/connector

thats what i got from s10forum … still dont know why that would be buzzing (you can clearly feel it) with only the battery connected.

^^ that was my second thought

dunno why its buzzing

me neither … and for $400 i really don’t want to buy a new one if its gonna do the same thing

isnt that for the fuel injection? i have the same setup on my 99 blazer(which will be sold in a week.) because those to lines are your fuel lines. I just cant remember what that is called. i will ask my brother to look on alldata tomorrow.

If it has something to do with the fuel maybe check fuel pump for a draw in power or ground?

normally, the PCM controls the injectors by switching them to ground. The injectors have 12 volts to them at all times thru the injector fuse , and the negative side is controlled by the pcm. It appears that the injectors are being grounded(shorted) before the pcm, or the pcm may be internally shorted. Check your wiring first, and if that is ok, see if you can swap in a test pcm.

Ok, well i unplugged that last night and hooked up the battery. low and behold, it was still making the noise … and you can still feel the vibration inside the hole that the plug went. I decided to just start pulling fuses to see which one will stop it and there was only one: ECM B. boo that. unplugged the computer, cleaned up the contacts and no luck, still doing it.

So i ask again if anyone knows what would be under the spider that could be making this noise.

thanks!
