Does anyone here know if the S12(83-88 200SX turbo) and S13(89-93 240SX) have interchangable parts? mainly engine and brakes?
edit: this may be for a swap for the KA or SR
Why put a KA/SR in the S12? More than likely you’ll already have a CA18e(t) in it, so why not just get a CA18DET?
It’s your call though, any engine would be good.

the wheels from the turbo are interchangable…
i tried searching, its for my buddy, the stuff on the net doesnt have enough detail on it. His engine has problems, so he said he was thinking of changing it, wasnt specific on the model so im guessing he was talking about the SR. I’m guessing the best thing for the car would be the CA. The thing is, i dont think he has the ca18de, because his car is a 2.0 i guess i gotta keep going back to google, if any of u have any info, just lemme kno. THNX
I’m not sure but I think the CA20E was an option, too, along with the vg30E.
One of the more knowledgeable members would know better.
The S12’s came to North America with 3 engine options during it’s life here. The standard motor used from 10/83 - 03/88 was the CA20E - a 2 litre SOHC fuel-injected motor.
The first option was the CA18ET - a 1.8 litre fuel injected SOHC turbo, on cars from production dates of 01/84 - 06/86. It was then replaced with the VG30E, the 3.0 litre fuel injected V6, on cars from 07/86 - 03/88.
As far as I know, the V6 versions never made it to Canada, it was a US only.
The best swap for the S12 is the CA18DET - the JDM version (Japan only) which you could get from an engine importer. This is the DOHC version of the CA18 and a much better engine than the CA20E. They should be cheaper than getting an SR20DET and a lot easier to install.
thnx for the info guys, I appreciate it. I’ll let my buddy know, and let him decide from there. do you know possibly if any of the brake systems are simular aswell? or suspention parts? which are simular to the 240? I cant seem to find any sites for this. Most have missing links. Once again, thanks
