If anyone here bought a blacktop motor from me, and i gave them a redtop 62 ecu contact me asap and ill swap ure 62 for an e5 or a J4 blactkop s13 ecu…This is free of charge !!!

well i didnt think it mattered too much seeing as im running a blacktop ecu on my redtop… that varun sold me.
I’m just guessing… but should there not be a big enough diff between the two ?
The Black top has VVT… is there not something in the ECU to control that or monitor it ? where as the Red top is without VVT and if in fact the ECU controls/monitors it… how could the VVT work proper on a Black Top with Red top ECU ?
Again… I’m guessing or making an assumption
not all blacktops have vvt, only the later models do.
Only S14 Blacktops and S15 Blacktops have VVTI.

s13gg has a blitz tuned 62 on his blacktop runs mint. so i doubt there is a problem with the ecu switchings…

Black Top: (hump peaking on cylinder 3)

247HP, 202 lb-ft
Garrett T28 ball bearing turbo (better materials and wastegate than s14)

But I guess the 180SX comes with a Black Top but has the same spec’s as the Red Top and if it does not have VVT then what is the diff between the two other then valve cover colour

The 2 S13 ECUs are basically the same, some minor differences in the pin out, but both will run eithor motor. And I believe the s13 blacktop ECU doesn’t have the LED diagnose light.
