I heard that the s13 sr is better for handling high hp(400+rwhp). Is this true? And why so? Because I thought that the s14 sr would be less stressed pushin that much power because it doesn’t have to be boosted as much because of the vvt. Thx.
i think its prolly here say
it may just be an early motor thing
early nissan blocks were stronger in sme cases and capable of handling a bit more
ie; ca18det iron block
ie; 1989 rb26 block
perhaps early sr’s were a bit stornger then there predacessors
in the case of the 1989 rb26, its been rumoured that the nickel content is highest in this block over any other rb26, giving it qaulities comparable to the n1 rb26 block.
but i dont know much about sr’s, so im not to much help
both the s14 and s13 sr will require the same modifications to hndle 400 hp reliably tho
The reason why people say the S13 is easier to make 400+whp because the VTC gets in the way at horsepower levels that high. Most cams that have high duration dont support VTC. Therefore it can become a nuisance.
It has nothing to do with the blocks.
Probably mentioning about the newer SR’s
offered in the later 180SX. o_O
ide listen to pete
hes knows a fair bit about sr’s
i was just throwing out a possible solution
theyre essentially the same motor minsu the 14’s vtc
i have an s13 and s14 sr here (block and head), there pretty much identical as far as i can see
if you want 300rwhp
get a s14 sr
it has better intake manifold and t28 already
just pop in 550cc injectors z32 mafs rom tune and up the boost and you have close to 300rwhp and more low end due to vtc
if you want more power don’t bother with a sr
he speaks the truth.
if you want more jam then go with rb or 2jz
