s13 sr20det idle control valve

Anyone knows

Where is the idle control valve for the S13 sr engine? (pic will help)

How can i clean it?

Thanks for the help.

Not sure specifically…but on myost cars they are bolted to the Intake manifld.

same location as the KA pretty much

on the inner side of the intake manifold towards the rear of the fire wall somewhat…

Is it this one?

yes.

Unscrew to increase idle speed, screw down to lower.

Sorry. I mean is it a Idle Control Valve??

I don’t want to adjust my rpm. It was fine when the car is complete stop. The rpm drop to 500rmp when i brake in neutral.

Thanks.

It’s the screw directly below (looking down from top) the 2nd and 3rd
runners on the intake manifold.

That is the AAC Valve, but ive heard other people calling it the Idle control valve yes, from what i remember reading in the past, is if you clean it, your problem will go away.
but dont quote me on that, unless someone backs me up.

Yea a dirty IACV will cause the car to have trouble at idle… cleaning it is always a good idea anyways. I know mine is coming out this winter for a good flush.

Do you know if it needs to come out to be cleaned? Or can you try spraying TB cleaner into it first or something?

You can do it with TB cleaner… but it doesn’t work as well as removing it. I used TB cleaning on mine when I first got the SR and it definatly helped… but I am sure it could still use a REAL good cleaning.

I took the screw out to clean it. But nothing change. The car still drop rpm when i brake in neutral.

Will oil pressure make difference? My oil pressure is only 1.6 for now. It was 2.0 after i changed the oil last time.

no no no… take the IACV line off your intake (3/4" rubber hose that connects to the IC piping right in front of the TB) while the car is running spray some TB cleaner in there… you might need to keep it running by bliping the throttle at the butterfly. Don’t rev it just keep it running. Then let it idle for a min and go for a boot.

i just did this to my sr, first time ever doing it and wow what a difference it made! I think it actually solved my problem with my revs dropping low when pressing the clutch in.
