This is something I just thought of, but with my s13 sr20 blacktop, I needed to replace the head. The replacement head is from an s13 redtop sr20, I’m just wondering if there will be any complications once everything is installed using the blacktop ecu with the redtop head? I don’t image there would be, but I’m just trying to gather all the info I can before I get into doing the rebuild and drop the engine back in.
nope
The ECU is not motor specific… its harness specific
Meaning if you have a redtop harness, you need a redtop ECU. reason for this is a few things “most importantly the O2 Sensor thou” One takes the ground signal directly from the Sensor “redtop” while the blacktop uses a different ground “built directly into the harness” so if you tried running a blacktop ECU on a SR which had an redtop harness (it would work) but your ECU would not get an O2 Signal Reading and would run rich in return…
But DTS did sum it up pretty easily “Nope”
ok, i figured as much, I just wanted to make sure prior to doing all this work.
