S14 Eurospec / Eurocommunity

Hi,

when introuducing myself thread I’ve received some replies belonging to the euro-spec cars and especially the rear bumper. I think it’s too much for the introduction thread, therefor I’m going to describe the situation in Europe for all the guys who are interested.

Although Europe is small, there are a lot of countries and most of the borders are open now (the buildings are tehrem you have to slow down, but nobody sits in it). I’m living in Germany, one of the richest countries in Europe and coming form Poland one of the poorer countires in Europe (difference was like between US and Mexico). The distance between my hometown and the town I live now is 500 miles / 800 kilomenters. The difference is even bigger, because the Rahin-Main-Area is rich and an industrieal center and former rich Walbrzych is a special invest area with around 50% unemployment because all the coal mines and the industry around were closed in the middle of 90s.

The tuning scene has a big tradition in Germany, especially for all the German cars. But also japanese cars get tuned a lot. Germany has a very good infrastructure with alls the Autobahns without any speedlimit  (when leaving citylimits). There are some racingtracks, especially the famous Nordschleife where you can have “tourist-tours”. On every weekend you can see a lot of great cars meeteing there. Even the british get there with ther Skylines and other grey japan imports (GB is going RHD). It’s around 100km / 60miles awy from me (going on a unlimited autobahn, heaving fun before getting on the track). Also my community SXOC.de is meeting there every year and the S13 community SXCE.de has a big Nürmeet there (there are more S13 than S14 in germany, the first one has sold very good here). Every year the season starts in Germany with a big meeting on the Nordschleife on Good Friday (in german “Karfreitag” transfered to “Carfreitag” meaning Car-Friday). There are also a lot of guys modifying the engines, drifting and importing cars from Japan or GB.

The polish scene stood up in this decade. They have terrible streets there, very few freewys. The condition is poor and the good infrastructure provides almost only ordinary highways. But in the big cities the few young guys who earn a lot of money, started to import fast cars from germany (so the people driving these cars are specialists in their jobs and can easier organize something, than ordinary peoply like in Germany). The meeting are mixed and you can see a lot of BMWs but also few japanese import cars (also bikes and cars are mixed more in the community). When going to Poland now, I was surprised to see a lot of Imprezas and Evos. These cars together with S/RS Audis seems to fit better with poor polish roads. But even Walbrzych is so poor, I’ve seen a 450 RWHP drifting S14 going on public roads. Poland is a kind of wild west (even lying in the east). But because there are so few cars, you can get informations very quickly, because the one know the other. It’s a kind of underground, pioneers. JDM is difficult in Poland, because no RHD cars can go on public roads.

Now some media:
Polish movie from community in capitol city

German SXOC guys having fun (the green one is a Racing-Edition with the same rear lip I have. All Racings where green and they make the most of the S14s in germany … my father has also one)

German SXOC Meeting 2008(Don’t know if you can access without logging in)

German SXCE Nürmeet 2007 (S13)

To be continued …

The cars are different in all Europe countries because of the prices and regulations, but there is something like a european base. I think there was no import of S13/14 to eastern Europe countries (price). The german cars seem to have the best equipment and because of no speed limit and ecological regulations, they seem to be the technical-straightedge for the Eurospec (some cars get modified, like MK4 Supra with the air induction on hood or Z32 300ZX TT with Nismo intercoolers). Only british cars have special position, because of RHD and the possibility of easy importing. But the white imports seem to be close to all Eurospec than to JDM.

The S13 200SX was imported as RPS13 with CA18DET (169PS) only (Kouki & Zenki) between 1986 (?) and 1992. The manual a/c was optional as well as the leather seats.

S13 options Prospect

The S14 200SX had a SR20DET Eurospec (200PS) between 1993 and 1996. There was a stock manual a/c and no leather seats.

The S14a 200SX was also equiped with SR20DET only and was sold between 1996 and 1999. Leather seats were stock now.

[Second S14a prospect](http://hylander.de/200sx/igallery.asp?d=\prospekte_s14a_99)

Fist Edition was the 1997 Sportline. Only 100 were made in red and black with MT only. Eibach 30mm springs and 18" OZ F1 Racing rimms were installed. Inside there were some smoothed aluminium things like shift-knoob and other small details (floor-mats, stickers).

Then in 1998 the Racing Edition was released. 800 pieces were made in metallic green. It was equipped with 17" BBS rimms and the rear lip. The interior contained wood elements on cockpit and greay leather seats and elements. Floor-mats were green (it is very bright inside).

The last Edition was Z-Edition in 1998. All 200 pieces have a number inside and were made in red and black. Again the Eibach 30mm springs and now the 18" OZ Supertourismo rimms were installed. The interior contains polished aluminium elements and other details. The Racing-lip was instaleld here as well.

Nice! thats was good info! I know where I am moving too!!!

Welcome to the Forum!

wow, did not know all this… very cool

Yea Polands import scene has got alot better, I’ve been watching some sick videos lately very nicely built cars and fuck you can speed everywhere there soo sick…

Very well written.
What are the import laws from Germany to Canada? Do they still have to be 15 years old to import? It would be nice to have a LHD with a stock sr20.

interesting

but a CA18DET equipped s13 wouldnt be an RPS13. it would be an RS13

the P represents the SR20/SR20DET

when are you coming to Toronto??

very interesting
welcome to the forum

Thank you, and you are right with the RS-RPS difference, but I’m not very familiar with the S13. Sorry for all the mistakes, but I was too lazy my whole life long, to care about ortography. Finally I hope the semantics get understood …

I’ve made a mistake. Sportline aluminium interior elements where polished, whlie in Z-Edition they are smoothed.

What I have forgotten was, that not only the 200SX was released as Sportline. Also Almera and Primera were released with the OZ F1 Racing rimms, Eibachs and other gimmicks. All these cars were limited to 100 pieces and could be pruchased in black or red.

(Shiftknoob and bars are polished)

And when releasing the Racing and Z Edition, there was also a Primera STW-Edition (STW = Super Touring car Winner) available, limited to 200 pieces, with number inside and interior similar to Z-Edition (aluminium look cockpit, aluminium elements, knob and mats) and exterior like Racing Edition (special green metallic, BBS 17" rimms)

so are you still coming here or have you already been and left

I’m arriving on next Saturday …

Thanks for very informative thread Mathew and welcome to son240.

Wow, that red Z-Edition s14 makes me think about importing one from Europe.
I like that Euro rear bumper much more than USDM one, plus rear wiper and all that details make this car look much better.

Why didnt they make a rear lip for the kouki for the american size licence plate.

Welcome to the forum!

yo is euro 200sx’s s13 rear bumpers any diffrent? lol one thing i have never looked into.

when you come bring me a sr20det 280 km/h cluster please!!!

woahhh double post sorry.

the only difference is the size of the license plate recess, im pretty sure

the euro s13’s rear fog lights are part of the tail light clusters (they’re the inboard lamps of the cluster)

The S13 has a 240km/h cluster, while the S14 has a 260km/h cluster. I think for both it’s not enough … so for the S14 zenki modell you can gat a 300km/h Nismo cluster and for the kouki a Veilside 300km/h cluster (horrible expensive). But if you want a stock cluster, I can help you to get a serious contact.

Cheers

Mathew

Hey, rear wipers shuld be cheap in Europe, because a lot of people clean the rear window.

But to get a good condotioned S14 kouki is much more difficult. I’ve spend 3 Months in 2006 looking every day in www.moblie.de and www.autoscout24.de for a Z-Edition with around 50.000km. The first one stood 15 minutes away, but was sold to Greece before weekend (I’ve called on Thrusday, this was a hard lesson). The prizes for a Racing or stock S14a were around 10.000 Euro. A Sportline was arount 11.000 and Z-Edition around 12.000. But, no chance. I didn’t found any other in that time, but I had luck and some guys from the community had found one. So we jumped in the car and “flyed” around 500km one way. Finally I’ve bought the car and it was a big fun to go back with 2 S14s (my dad has a Racing) on mountaious Autobahn with ups and downs and all the relative hard corners. Since then I know about 3 Z-Editions sold in the last 3 years fitting the specs I was looking for … with prizes around 13-15.000 Euro. Yes, the cars got more expensive in the last 5 years … crazy! A lot of cars went to Scandinava, for public roads or drifting, for the named expensive prized lying above a “healthy” German level. Meanwhile the prizes decrease slowly, because of a lot of Japan and GB imports. The cars in GB are much more cheaper (around 50%), but they are RHD. Usually the guys from Austria and Switzerland buy also cars in Germany, and also the east European guys (but the buy usually the cheaper ones to rebuild them). Finally it is still a kind of horror to buy an S14 here. After being exported and crashed through the years, now only 949 (1.1.2009) are left in Germany (1.1.2008 = 1092 and 1.1.2006 1874). Well a half in three years … And all the cars look great onm the pics, but in reality a lot are destroyed alot. Some (Honda ;-)) guys are the same time registered as I am and they search till now. So it is a kind of luck, but also a kind of beliving to become a S14 driver. I mean, for 15.000 you can get a really good Mk4 TT or a imported, really good conditionded JDM S15 R-Spec. So the situation is crazy … or ironic when thinking about the real sluggish selling of S14 in the 90s (sportscars for man in late 50s).

Since you are coming to Toronto, you should meet some of the members from here (if it’s possible for you). Probably the weekly car meets would probably the easiest. Someone can even pick you up if you can’t get around, LOL
(I’ll volunteer)
Just send me a PM or something.
