S14 LSD

Hey guys,

My S14 LSD seems to have some play. It also clunks. Now, what are my options? Is it repairable?

Can I swap on S13 LSD or do I have to use S14? S14’s are so hard to find in the junk yard. Are there any other LSD I can use? I wouldn’t mind longer ratio cuz I think I’d save more gas that way.

I just don’t want to have to replace my half shalfts.

Any simple swap you guys think is good?

S13’s will work but you will have to change the rear cover plate.

The only other thing is get an aftermarket one like Nismo, Kaaz, Cusco etc.

You can use a NA 300ZX diff, or one off the J30. You’ll have to change the output flanges on both with your old ones.

IIRC, the J30 has a slightly lower final drive ratio too.

S14 pumpkins are mounted onto the subframe by bushings in the front.
There might be play in the bushings. Nismo also makes replacements.

Anyone know how much an s13 VLSD is worth?

The ‘clunking’ your talking about may not necessarily be your diff, it may be a problem with your driveshaft like worn out U joints for example.

True… Look into the driveshaft and halfshafts.
