S14 SE 5 lug rims width

Hey guys,

Any idea how wide the rim is? Is it a 7 inch wide or 7.5 inch wide?

I’m in the process of purchasing new rubber for them and I was wondering if it can fit 225 tires.

S14 (5lug) alloy wheels are 16x6.5. IMHO a little too narrow for 225’s.

I thought it was at least a 7 inch… but since it’s from phil, it must be right… hmm

do you think 215’s would fit?

Stock is 205 so 215 is 10mm wider so thats 5mm on each side which isnt
much. I had 215’s on the stock 7 spoke S13 rims and they were fine.

No word of a lie… the specs are right from the 1995 240SX FSM.

225’s ‘can’ be fit on 6.5" wide rims, however the sidewalls will bulge outwards a bit. Generally this is not good for handling… the tires will feel a bit sloppier and turn-in will not be as crisp. 215/55R16’s are available but many still spec a 7" wide rim. However, I think they would probably be a good compromise between width & performance on the stock 6.5" wide rims.

If you can afford it, buy some high perf. summer tires (ie. Falken Azenis, Toyo T1-S, Kumho Ecsta, etc). They will make all the difference.

yeah I’m thinking of installing 215 size Azenis on the stock rims… anyone here have this combo and have some thoughts to share?

Go 205, as phillip stated they will be sloppy.

225 will fit. they will not be flush with the rim tho.
They will act as good rim protectors
