Which brings us to the buyout and moving high volume money makers to Ithaca. $6/sixer beers get moved to Ithaca, $10/sixer beers in Buffalo.
Retail Hours:
Monday - Thursday 9am - 5pm / Friday 9am - 7pm / Saturday 11am - 4pm
“Bird of Prey IPA” Fuck that sounds awesome.
BIRD OF PREY IPA – 8.26% ABV - Our true English style IPA. Bready English Malt gives this beer a firm backbone to hang truckloads of East Kent Golding Hops on. Available on draft at the brewery and select “Beer Geek Bars” Feb. March April (if it lasts that long).
I’m drooling.
Saturday FB meet?
I will be going saturday prolly around noon or so.
I think scientist Jeff might be picking up a keg on Friday.
Thanks. I noticed it said to call ahead for tours.
I’ll just take a trip down there this weekend.
I might join you and grab a growler or two of that bird of prey…
Id be in… I dont have a keg to fill or anything though. Growlers it is! If we do this lets make it big, show our support for Buffalo’s businesses
Last post from Tim was that they were still here, and just “talking” with MATT about finding ways to lower the costs of malt and hops, contrary to what the news was reporting.
I don’t know what has happened since then, but I can only hope that Flying Bison sticks around. I think they make some great beer, especially the Scotch Ale, Octoberfest, and Hoops.
If anyone were to buy them out, I hope they would entertain some local offers, such as Pearl Street.
i just wish they had the volume to support the demand.
Scotch Ale is their gold mine… that stuff goes in the first few months. Its already gone as of now. Funny, because when I talked to Tim and his son Saturday they said things were going ok as well. Doubt theyd give me bad news though anyways
So shall we start a thread and get some exposure to get people to show up saturday?
feel free. im going simply because i love the beer and want to make sure i get at least 1 more shot at going. who knows how things will end up once they buy them out.
I will come out on Saturday… I have two Kegs that could be filled if anyone wanted to borrow them. They are disassembled at the moment, but that is a quick 5 min. fix.
FUCK
just remembered their retail store is closed till sometime in Feb… saw it on twitter the other day
Thats shity. I would be pissed if this ever happened to custom brewcrafters or rohrbachs here.
The scotch ale is god. Although this is bad news it sounds like the buyer really wants to continue flying bison and get it more recognized. Doesn’t hurt that he owns saranac which started as a small local brewery and is now huge
Praise jesus speak the truth
This is sad news indeed.
I brew a lot and have found that most small breweries partner with other micro brewery’s to bring costs of materials down. Especially grains/hops/etc. Hops are not cheap and need to be bought in bulk if you are brewing on commercial levels.
Many of these breweries welcome home brewers to get in on the material orders but when I called Flying Bison they said they do not allow this. I since moved out of Buffalo and have found 2 or 3 breweries that have groups dedicated to home brewers and the owners explained to me it brings all of their costs down. Just an idea of how they could have run the business better, but I enjoyed a few of their brews so I hope Saranac keeps them going.
Ugh this is really going to ruin my day.
I really need to try this bird of prey. It sounds delicious. Is it on tap anywhere? If not I’ll be stopping for a growler at lunch tomorrow.
