I’ve been watching headstud threads on evoM since 2003… the conclusion I’ve made is that replacing them without removing the head is just as shady as not doing them at all so it’s a wash. Also, I’ve never seen a case where the stock ones caused a real problem until you’re over 450whp and even then I can’t think of a case (mostly because people have upgraded at this point?)

Me and Klemann did my head studs without removing the head. I had no leaks and I’m happy I did them. I ran up to 28lbs of boost with no problems. You have to make sure you re-torque them after a few days so you don’t blow your head gasket.

I guess its going to depend on my tune. Ive seen similar to exact setups that have made 330-to closer to 4 on pump. Im thinking closer to mid 3’s hopefully

the guy on here that sold that white evo8 w/ cf hood, was making like 350wheel(maybe?) or something with basically your setup… but he had cams and an intercooler

have you guys ever seen a real case of the stock ones failing? it was a much bigger deal with DSMs so people just brought that logic to the evo is what I suspect.

If I had to guess, I’d say I was making above 350 whp. I only did street tuning so, I don’t have a definitive number. I did have an upgraded FMIC and piping which helped increase efficiency at high boost levels. The car could have done high 11’s with a better driver no problem.

It is super easy once the cams are installed. Klemann knows the proper order to do them. From my personal experience, if you re-torque them after a few days you should be good. Like I said, I had no problems and I beat the crap out of my car.
