Most of the comments on CNN are mocking. Seems most people don’t sympathize with people hiking recreationally in Northern Iraq / Iran. I have to say, i personally have little interest in going there.
How does it make you feel that she appears to have an interest in leveraging this incident into something more… wanting to meet with Ahmadinejad… I hope he says FUUU!!!
well, from what she says it is not a warzone… I am sure that in a country as large as Iraq, or Iran, that this is very possibly true. generalizing the whole region as a war zone is probably a mistake.
moreover, just because the Americans call it a warzone doesnt mean that it is. She did say that when she was apprehended she was at a tourist destination recommended by their hotel with hundreds of families around having picnics. she also says that the border crossing was unmarked.
I have absolutely no sympathy for incidents like this and the recent one in Korea. When in Foreign land, especially areas like those it is your responsibility to always know where you are. From what I have read, her little group visited/hiked all over the world so chances are that they would be smart enough to research where they are going and have a gps on them. I also hope he tells her to piss off.
No sympathy here either. Stupid people assuming the whole world is like the US. There are simply places where you shouldn’t go, the border of Iran/Iraq being one of them.
well hold on, you should only not go there if you’re American… i am sure Japanese and Russian people would be suspiscious but wouldnt be detained for 14 months… they’re Iranian allies aren’t they?
