Scientific Question....ting ting ting....

What actually causes that ting ting ting ting sound when you shut off your car?

i know its from the steel cooling but what is going on in there that makes it cause that noise??

anyone?

I think you just answered your own question. Most likely the ticking is coming from the exhaust system, mainly the catalytic convertor as it cools.

If you want the scientific answer look it up on a “science site” …or ask Solarian he seems to be up to speed on sci-fi mumbo jumbo.

Wheee!!
I actually dunno why it ticks. It’s possible that it’s at a contact point of two metals that have different rates of expansion/contraction and they’re applying force to eachother, but the ticking seems a tad too rapid for that. I’m gonna let someone else take a swing at this one

That’s it man.

Theo

so this is on like a molecular level its happening

everything happens on a molecular level … so that is true. but it’s pretty much what’s been said rapid heating and the equally rapid cooling of dis similar metals/materials is the cause

im going to try and find a science teacher

i wanna know whats going on in the metal and to see a catroon animation of whats happening cause thats the only way i learn things, with cartoon animation

A science teacher won’t be able to help you out. I knew a LOT more than my teachers when I was still in high school, unfunny amounts now. If you go to university, ask a prof, people with PhDs are so smart, it’s scary.

alot of my teachers in high school had PHD’s

so… maybe it will be the same in his school??

cartoon animations are awsome

I am with you on that one…
