SCR Wilson Circuit Time Trial 6/6/09

Saturday June 6th we will be back for our annual Wilson Circuit time trial at beaverun. Same deal as always you get to run the full course. Two morning practice sessions and two afternoon practice sessions. Each session you’ll get a warmup lap, 3 timed laps, and cool down lap. Its $100 bucks for SCCA members, and another $15 if your a non-member to purchase a weekend membership (note your weekend membership will be valid for the SCCA autocross at beaverun the day after on the 7th). You do NOT have to work the course, course workers are included in the price. Classing and safety requirements are based off SCCA autox classing. Minimal safety requirements are a SN95 helmet, a long sleeved shirt and long pants. Open cars in any class must have at least a rollbar and arm-restraints. Closed cars in Prepared or Modified must have at least a rollbar. Closed cars (including convertible, sunroof, t-top, and targa-top cars with factory hard tops in place) in Stock through Street Modified DO NOT require any extra safety gear beyond normal autox prep. You can only pre-register online here…

For those who have never done it, its a great time. Little faster than autox but slower than a track day. Here are a few vids to to show what goes on. Dunno why there is no sound in the first vid. 2nd vid in in-car from a Evo.

Registered. Bringing 1/10 of a ruckus.

Damn I’ll have to miss another one, 6/6 is rally weekend. :frowning: www.stpr.org

that hairpin turn think its turn 3? is a bitch! alot of us were having a little trouble with the 1st turn off the straight away but I figured out you can take it full throttle in a kart if you set yourself up right

Looks like a great time! Someone I used to work with told me about this and said it is a lot of fun. I’ll have to see what funds are like then, $115 is a little much for me but we’ll see

I am trying to get some local companies I know around here to sponsor my entry fee, too expensive for a paycheck to paycheck guy like me.

Yea the price does suck. Hence why we only hold 1 of these a year (though we might try another in the fall but don’t quote me on that). But you sweat alot more running your car in a fast autocross like situation for almost 5 mins straight per session. So NOT having to work the course is a huge plus if its like a 80deg or warmer day. Just remember if anyone does sponsor you make sure you keep it on your car. If you prop up a banner anywhere beaverun will want to charge. Time for another TT clip, one of my favorites lol.

1sloRT - Yea that downhill hairpin is a bitch. its even worse in a car for obvious reason. I ran in a 2 hour enduro there last weekend. I was talking to the track head (who was also racing with us so I got to see a few of his lines through the turns). He apex’s turn 2 super early then goes way to the outside till he’s ready to enter turn 3.
