sealing a fitting

So I finally managed to relieve a kink in my oil line for my oil pressure gauge but now the fitting I’ve put is leaking oil. Here’s a pic of the fitting elbow:

The oil is leaking from the threads so as a temporary fix, I jus stuffed napkins to soak up the oil leaks, but is there any permenant way to seal the threads?

there is white thread tape, you just wrap it around the threads and thread it back in. plumbers love it

Telfon tape should work, but I use something called pipe dope on any thread that needs to seal on my vehicle. It is a white paste that is used by pipe fitters for rigid conduit when doing gas lines.

I use the pro dope compound.

It resists everything!
Gasoline, oil, steam, etc.

I have never had a single leak on any fastener that I used this stuff on.

Just don’t get any on you.

Teflon Tape is your best option, it’s dirt cheap, and works like a champ.

its for a completely different application… hes using brass fittings he should use teflon tape.

What does the application have to do with it? That pipe dope can be used on any thread. And yes teflon is just fine for tapered brass fittings, I never said it wasn’t.
That paste that I posted is usually applied over top of teflon tape anyways.

they also sell white teflon paste for people with no dexterity

Yeah, make sure you wrap it *with the threads, or you’ll re-do it like 15 times before you figure out why it’s not working.

*wrap the tape in the same direction you’d turn the fitting to screw it in.
