According to bullshit NYS “self defense is not a reason for an unrestricted permit”, so I can’t carry everywhere. It doesn’t say anything about carrying in your home, so while at home, the G23 will never leave my side. You just never know. If someone wants to break into your home when you are at work, there is really nothing stopping them. I don’t care if you have an alarm or dog. 20 seconds is all someone needs to grab what they want and get out, and usually no one sees anything. Locks only keep honest people out.
My Canadian friends have called the US a warrior culture. I can agree with that statement.
There has never been a robbery in my neighborhood. Every one know each other. I even had one of my neighbors call the police while i was home because they seen people they didnt know !
+1 if people know what you have/dont have its going to going to make your house more vulnerable to theft.
saw
This.
Although I will say that being semi-nocturnal and having a roommate that works second shift makes things a good deal more difficult for any potential intruders. Not to mention a neighborhood full of old nosey people with Amherst PD on speed dial. (I know this from experience unfortunately)
If someone wants your stuff bad enough they will get it. Its shitty but the best security is to keep quiet and not to give people a reason to want your stuff.
I have StrikeMasters on both of my doors. The reality is that if someone wants in, they’ll get in. This prevents the quick kick and grab. I also have like 4" long screws in every hole for hinges, etc and metal doors. http://www.asafehome.net/index.html
Not going to make it a fort, but sure is going to make the guy go the next door down when he’s just trying for a smash and grab which is most of what happens. You’re just trying to distribute the load across as much of the weak wood as you can.
not sure why you’d want a double lockset though?
I would have to say the best security setting I’ve ever installed was razor blades on the back of a CD player in an old car i had … MAN there was a TON of blood in that car. I wouldn’t be surprised if he lost a finger because of it.
I don’t have anything of value that I could not live without. I am more worried about losing stuff in a fire than to an intruder, as it could all be replaced, with the exception of pictures/personal memories. I also choose where I live carefully, and try not to be flashy about things. I have a dog that bark at anything that moves outside. If she barks loud enough or long enough, the neighbor’s dogs join in too.
i also live in an area with retired neighbors on each side, who hang out in their enclosed porches during the day watching life go by. They called me when my buddy stopped by to borrow the vacuum cleaner just to make sure, even though he had a key.
The car I keep locked. I drive a domestic/import of atleast 7 years old, and don’t visibly modify it. I prefer to find a car with the options I want already on it. my projects are locked in the garage.
Again, all insured, so if something happens, cut me a check and I am ok. I am not lax about things, and secure everything to the best of my ability, but I also don’t buy all the nifty gadgets to make it ultra secure. Rather, just being aware and not leaving any openings is good.
As far as the house… “guns…lots of guns”. And I have 3 dogs.
The doors on my car don’t lock, but it doesnt have a bettery in it right now so i dont think anybody is gonna steal it.
Myself, i have a lot of fighting experience and dont worry about being mugged. Besides…I live in akron. nuff said lol.
bettery. lol.
i came here just to post this.
Quoted. ps, i wanna see fight videos…
I carry a desert eagle around my home and keep it under my pillow at night. I have 4 remington 12 gauge semi-auto shotguns lying around my house. Barbed wire fences, 4" thick steel doors, cameras that put prisons to shame, and 3 pitbulls trained to kill. My ma says its overkill but when that bully mugged me for lunch money 20 years ago, I take extreme caution.
it’s already too late for you
I
For my personal protection I wear these shirts every day.
Not really, but this technology is cool as shit. The guy who developed it Miguel Caballero actually shoots all of his employees at close range with a 9mm while wearing one of their coats as part of orientation to the company.
day to day. BASIS.
^Thats some crazy stuff right there
