actually, shorter peolpe have a better bench. taller people have better deadlifts and squats. we have further to lift the wight, but our height acts like a fulcrum.
go to www.titanpowerlifting.com to get a picture. mine is from inzer. anyway, u have to see one person to how tight they really fit. my wife is 116lbs, and my bench shirt is smaller then her tee shirts. they keep you in so tight your arms do not come down while u are standing up. u literally look like a zombie. so when u lay down, it forces the tension in the shirt to put tension on your chest, shoulders, tris. when lift off, you can feel where the shirt is working(its called finding the groove), when you feel it, toch the bar there, wait for the press call, and go up. the shirt gives your body more explosive power, so you lift the weight easier. but if you miss the groove, the lift becomes harder, because uyou are fighting the weight, plus the shirts internal resistance.
most people think powerlifting is just picking up weight, it is actually more of a technique sprt then anything. my buddy used to max at 185 lbs. he weighed 170 at the time, so it was a good lift, after i watched him bench, and showed him the proper technique for raw benching, he was doing 220 3 weeks later. it really is 50% technique, 25% strength, and 25% power
