Shipping packages to Europe

i need to find the best way to do so… i sent a box, less than 10 lbs, but shaped like a skateboard, via USPS… it cost $63 to send to Ireland. with USPS its considered a “big” package since it is over 5 lbs…

when i do the estimates online with fedex its like $128…

is there something i’m missing here?

also when it got there, the kid i shipped to had to pay a $51 customs charge…

i am new to this but i really want to figure out the best way to do this

USPS will be the cheapest way to send it.FedEX and UPS are both ridiculous.

When you fill out the customs form, check “gift” and mark the value as $10 or $20 and they shouldn’t have to pay anything,or very little.

Also, the cheapest way to send things international is First Class,it will take a little longer but its wayyyy cheaper.

i actually did mark it gift too…

i think they automatically gave me priority, which is 6-10 days… i believe i have to ask for first class, which is a bit longer, and cheaper

Like he said, USPS first class mail international is your best bet for anything 4 lbs and under. Your shipment is over 4 lbs so priority mail international postage is required. A 9lb shipment to Ireland looks to be about $48.

Also, always mark as a gift with a really low value to save the customer some cash.

mine was 12 lbs… $63.30 then $51 for customs charge…guess i have no choice

Time for a UK distributor!
