Shopping for a new car next year (wife's next daily driver)

Nobody likes a smart ass!! lol :x
I almost missed that…

the 9-3 aero ( only model worth buying) starts around 39 large. lesser models start ar 30ish i beleive. they have come down in price recently.

i beleive the 9-2 is the WRX twin and the 9-3 is the bigger one. i’m guessing it is classed between the upper BMW 3 series and the lower 5 series

The TSX is a decent car with the 6 speed, but too stiff for a daily driver. It’s the kind of car that should be driven above the speed limit. A roots supercharger would help it alot.

My vote is for the TSX. I saw one with spinners the other day. I really like the whole look of the car especially the lights.

I can recommend a TL Dynamic after driving one. It would make a good daily driver if you can stand FWD.

I love the new TL. But the TL Dynamic is $42k+, isn’t it? That’s a bit out of the budget. I guess there’s always used. But if I was going to consider that price range, I’d have to strongly think about the G35 sedan as well. That would be a tough dilemma.

But I still really like the TSX… pending a test drive of course.

BTW, any chance knowing you would help me to get a better purchase price at West Side Acura.

It may help. Test drive both the TL and TSX if your considering an Acura. You already know my choice after driving both. The TSX is too hard edged but isn’t fast.

Jay if your a big fan of the TSX you really should check out the TL, dad and I took one for a rip 2 weeks ago and has a kick ass bodykit to it. I would seriously think about the move from Nissan to Acura for this ride.

MSRPs:

$34,800 (TSX) vs $41,800 (TL w/ dynamic).

$7500 (w/ GST) is a significant difference at the end of the day, and this is going to be the wifey’s car, not mine, afterall.

Hmmm…

What a coincidence. I just got the latest Car & Driver in the mail and they have a 4-way comparison of the A4 1.8T, the TSX, the S40 T5 and the Legacy GT. And the TSX took 1st place!

Its… on!

My wife had the misfortune of getting into an accident on the weekend (She’s ok!), hence part of the reason I couldn’t make the BBQ on saturday… spending quality time. Anyway, her car has been declared a write-off and we’re just waiting for the insurance settlement (which unfortunately won’t be much… it was just a ahem Sunfire).

The official test driving starts tonight.

We’ve both test driven a TSX back in the fall… loved it! And I also test drove an Altima SE-R over the Christmas holidays. Neither of us have driven a regular 3.5SE yet, nor any of the other cars mentioned previously.

My short-list is still fairly similar and is comprised of:
Altima 3.5SE
TSX
Mazda 6 GT-V6
Legacy GT

we’ll see what else…

I was hoping we could’ve waited until 2006 models were out, because I wanted to see if Acura was going to bump the HP up on the TSX. But the unplanned accident has bumped our schedule obviously.

I’d say the TX

Legacy GT for good all arounder or Altima, if space is a priority.

Should I suggest the Altima SE-R? They’re fairly rare, as far as Altimas go, and they have a bunch of goodies that the stock ones don’t, ie. stiffer suspension, 18" wheels.

Failing that, the Legacy GT would be the next one to look at. It is just as fast as a WRX and way roomier.

The TSX is a nice LOOKING car, but as far as a sporty drive it doesn’t really seem to hit the mark. Then again, most women aren’t really looking for a sporty drive anyway.

I’ll write more tonight, on my way to a info session at Grant MacEwan.
