Loud pipes save lives!!!
I was going to point out the Boss Hoss thing too- but they had to find a way to get a 400+ HP v8 traction on a 1000 lb bike when its hard enough to do with the 4000 lb Camaro…
I say try it. I don’t see Harley as an engineering masterpiece company that spends gobs of money on research (although I could be wrong…). I doubt this change will make a phenomenal impact on your experience. I also don’t think this makes a marginal impact on your safety on a motorcycle. If you get hurt on a bike, its probably going to be for another reason then your back tire wasn’t designed with your vehicle in mind…
You know the more i have been thinking about this the more im liking the idea(for a cruiser/ chopper). I wached the video on the first post again and the contact pach difference really isnt that big between a bike tire and a car tire. Again pressure and tire composition would change that but I think a good directional car tire would bite the road just as well as a bike tire. For the nay sayers that would never try this I ask…Have you ever been on a bike with a worn out rear tire? I assume the transition between straight line and a turn would feel almost the same.
i say go for it juiced. If you do a lot of riding id say the increase in tire life and increased straight line stability is well worth it. Id just go with a directional tire.
I may have a change of plans. I might trade in my bike and I’ll end up with a new tire if that is the case. When that tire needs replacing, I will do it. We’ll see if I can pull off the trade this week.
phew… you’ll live another 8k miles or soo <3 be safely.
whats the next bike going to be? please say I4 something or other
2010 RoadGlide (The Fugly Harleys) if I can get a deal. The 2011 comes out in 2 weeks so I am waiting to see if the one I have in mind gets discounted in the next couple of weeks.
It looks like this:
I really don’t know if I love or hate that faring …
Love it
I like it because the fairing is fixed to the frame and doesn’t turn with the bars. The RoadGlide is much easier to handle in windy conditions. On my bike now, the wind pushes the bars all over the place.
